Range Etiquette for a Range Idiot

Or, or… your new smart pencil will give you a corrective shock whenever you misgender the mailman. Learning through “reinforcement.”

Typos or ignorance?

My blood is typo

Like stories about criminals calling the police about being robbed of their illicit assets and money?

ut, oh, the proper term is mail carrier, though that, too, is archaic, as it is rare to get mail. Typically, the “mail” received is solicitations and advertising, as the “real” mail is mostly provided via the Internet. :sunglasses:

Can we even say “mail” anymore? Sounds too much like “male,” and that might offend someone.

Oh the humanity!

So, does that make me a “male” carrier?

Every Day

No people like that never grow up ,but we can pray for that, the best is teach our children and grandchildren not to be the fool once they grow up and they are out on their own!

Maybe lettercarrierperson.

Thanks Dave, well put. This won’t be the last of it.

Cool heads prevail.

Guns, children. You got options. Let range worker know, on the side, take all your gear and guest with you, so no worry it get stolen. Ask range desk you come back in an hour when that fella is gone, he does not need to know it was you, none his business, accomplishes nothing, you don’t know how mentally unstable he could be.

You could ask for a lane furthest away, soon as one opens.

You did good, keeping risks low to your child and you. Kudos for being a great Dad; she’ll remember.

I see a lot of good when I go, but see some bad, will always be some. The worst ones, I stop going to; Sometimes I pick days when less busy there.

Once two fellas were hooting and hollering, poking fun at people who were less than very accurate. I like to practice with different rounds, one handed, non dominant hand, mixed in with revolvers, even at great distances.

They even accidentally shot the device in their lane which carries the target to and fro, thus their line fell to the ground.

They bugged me, so I deliberately set mine at 10 yards and instead used two hands and dropped 30 rounds dead center. Not only did they stop their bad behavior, they left immediately.

There are sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs. You’re teaching them to be sheep and that’s your choice. You raise them as you choose.

I don’t care a whole lot for that analogy.

Smart decisions and self defense willingness/ability don’t make one a sheep dog. The job of a sheep dog is to protect others, in this analogy, the sheep dog would be law enforcement officers while on the job. The concealed carrier who will defend themselves if needed is more like a sheep hiding some claws in its fleece.

Avoiding starting a completely unnecessary fight with somebody does not make a person a “sheep”, if going simply by the wolf/dog/sheep quote we see thrown around so often.

It’s not a bad thing to avoid starting confrontations just because somebody annoyed you

I don’t care.

The OP didn’t avoid a fight…he avoided an uncomfortable conversation and then played passive aggressive and posted a rant about it.

There’s a huge difference between taking steps to be safe and taking steps to avoid an actual confrontation. If someone is doing something at a range that you see, we have an obligation to prevent an accident…because we could be the one injured or killed by someone’s negligence.

As for avoiding a confrontation, sure, if someone is in your face and argumentative, you can certainly choose to avoid a confrontation especially with your kids there. However, this wasn’t that.

I’m not so sure we can be certain of that

What did he do that was passive aggressive?
