Range at the range

Around here, at about the end of June the BLM land out west get’s So Dry and that super fine Grass Get’s So High that just thinking about shooting out there starts a 10,000 acre range fire. Do you folk have that issue?

In some spots. I go to the true dessert, just sand, rocks and cactus and shoot in dry creek beds and arroyos. Usually there is no vegetation anywhere near me.

You have to be rich to have grass in NV since it takes 25,000 gallons a month to constantly water it!
The only time I have seen fire was either from a lightning strike or some idiot shooting Tannerite next to the sage

Edit: and from hot wheel bearings/mufflers on dirt bikes

Looks like this

They say a deer kicking a rock will make enough of a spark to burn the house down.

Looks like need to get to the range, we shoot 17 an 25 feet with pistol most of the time go to 25 yards but really never considered going 50 yards. Thanks to all of you i must try this, glad i have a good group of people here at USCCA reminding me there’s no end to training abilities.

Last outing (Sunday) we set one steel at 20 yards for pistols, but with no designated shooting line most of the shots on it were 15-18 yards…. Maybe as low as 10 yards?

For rifles we set out at 100, 325ish and 590-600 yards.

I managed two hits at 100 in a single 7 round mag out of my 1911, as well as a handful of hits with my new Springfield Echelon 9mm!

I wasn’t sure how much I’d like that gun, it’s not a 1911, but yeah I’m liking it!

You keep showing that Barret .50 damn it. I absolutely don’t need a .50, nope, not going to do it… but the one on display at the range sure felt cool to caress. No No No, I don’t dare, R’s been really good with me spending on my hobbies, I better let thing settle a bit first…

We used to shoot 1911’s at a 55 gal drum at 200 yds. Once you had the elevation figured out it was fun to take your shot, re- holster, and wait for the sound of impact.

Just gave the VP9SK her first trip to the range. I’m definitely switching to it when my permit renewal is up (it’s a CA thing). It’s sweeter to shoot than the Shield compact.

Should I give it a try?
It reminds me of how much fun I had firing M-16s in the mid-80s.

What does your wife enjoy for the same price?
Plan ahead, in case she is not ‘understanding’
