Cereal was for Saturday breakfast only! The rest of the week was hot, cooked breakfasts with dishes rinsed and in the sink before heading to school.

I always wondered why the box had to be empty before I could get the record. My reasoning that the wax paper bag lining would keep the cereal fresh didn’t fly. … “If you punch out the record then you may poke a hole in the liner” still echoes in my memory

… only because it’d be another three years before we were able to show restraint in how much dish soap we used in making our sink volcanos when attempting to do da dishes

OK Guys, you’re exposing my childhood here…

My Parental units would get pissed when they pulled the cereal boxes outta da cupboard and there were holes where the games/Mail in junk/Coupon’s use to be! (we were resourceful!) and careful not to ‘nick’ the bag inside!

I believe that the Red Skelton reciting and explaining the Pledge Of Allegiance came either on or in a cereal box. I still have a copy of it with my 45’s (45 rpm records, for the younger folks). I forgot all about it, I’ll have to look for it.

…and the problem is ??? It’s kinda obvious that you survived your formative years. There’s no better reason to celebrate no seatbelts and metal dashboards

When SNL was actually funny. Coneheads were one of my favorite sketches.
Lots of laughs in the 70’s

Do you folk’s remember the ‘Greek’ Diner scene’s?
‘Cheesbuga, Cheeseburga, Cheeseburga!’
They made a ‘BOX’ on the set to the back of the house so John Belushi couldn’t escape to a BAR blocks away (and not return for the rest of the show) I went to an SNL show back then and we saw him fuming! when he realized he couldn’t get out! It might have been the first time he
got trapped and had to stay, so eventually he turned around and came out and finished the skit.
AH! Good Times!

We three older kids had an after supper dishwashing schedule…my days were Monday, Thursday, and every third Sunday. Also room cleaning Saturday morning, lawn mowing in the afternoon, and trash cans to the curb Sunday evening. Yet we still managed to have plenty of free time for playing in the yard or at the park, or out to the “woods”, and any number of other activities. I had a BB gun, a pocket knife, and a dime store bow-and-arrow set. I was ready for anything!
