Properly adjusting electronic earmuffs

One other issue with hearing protection is not only the decibels, but the pitch. Some hearing protection devices work better than others depending on the pitch of sounds it is designed to protect against. I use my earmuffs with some of the louder lawn equipment. One pair works great for the mower, but not as well with leaf blower and power washer. My plugs work well for the mower and blower, but I double-up for the power washer.

I am sure the same is true with firearms various pitches of sound depending on the firearm. I always double-up when shooting. Like @Nathan57 stated, a quick break in the seal of a cuff defeats the protection. Learned that once long ago, which is another reason to double-up.

Especially at indoor ranges, but I’d like to use both foam plugs AND muffs, esp if high pressure rounds are being touched off.
