My uncle had a Browning .22 automatic. We would go out to his farm and spend a couple of hours firing that thing. It only shot the .22 longs but firing a machine gun was fun when you are 10 to 16 years old. I have no idea how many shots we put through that thing in a short time. It took a lot longer to load than it did to empty.

That is a fact. 17 rounds slipped into the tube below the barrel and we would unload. I felt like Sgt. Rock of Easy Company. That joy of shooting those .22s is tough for kids today to feel.
