I was out doing my daily activities when my daughter called and asked me to pick up my granddaughter from school I said no problem. So I’m waiting in line at the school and I realized I was wearing my gun. I carry every day, so I wasn’t thinking of the school grounds when I pulled in. But sitting there I’m thinking we’ll know body knows but me but I was thinking could this been a problem being on school grounds. Are there any thoughts on this issue.

Welcome to the community. As long as you are not making a spectacle of yourself. Technically it is illegal a misdemeanor. I guess it all matters what state you are in in Nevada nobody cares.

Your are OK as long as nobody sees it, nobody knows you’re carrying, you don’t use it… even knowing you are breaking Federal and State’s Laws

it depends in what state you are in. Here in Mississippi with an Enhanced Permit it is not illegal as long as you do not enter the school.

Federal Law prohibits civilians from carrying loaded firearms within any school zone. My community has several school zones within residential neighborhoods. No way can they police every firearms owner who lives in these neighborhoods or drives through them. Non-service dogs are also prohibited during school hours. Post Office and any other federal buildings prohibit carrying loaded firearms. SSA offices ban all types of dangerous weapons too. Found out the hard way at my local SSA office. Security politely asked me to leave my clip knife in my vehicle.

I believe if you’re a member (regardless if you just signed up) of a pro-2A group, you’re now exempt.
Edit: The Second Amendment Foundation SAF) and the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) won the core legal challenge against the post office firearm carry ban (FPC v. Garland / FPC v. Bondi).

The federal law regarding the school zone does not apply to an individual who is licensed to carry a concealed firearm by the state or locality in which the school zone is located.

In Nevada one can get permission from who’s in charge of the school to carry a gun. To me it’s a no-brainer why would they not want someone to protect children?

In Texas it’s bad juju. Nobody wants a gun charge. Depending on the local, some DemoCrap D.A.s relish at the thought of getting some pro 2A gun carrier in a courtroom.

In Utah a CCW permit holder can have a gun on school property, Federal law disagrees. I’m not aware of anyone being hassled because of the federal law but I do see people without a permit get escorted out from time to time…

In Minnesota, the exception hidden in the size four font basically states that permit holders may possess a firearm “in a vehicle” on school property. However, you can’t walk around school grounds or enter the building even while carrying concealed, The moment you exit the vehicle with the firearm, or bring the firearm into a school building, the exception disappears and the act becomes a felony under state law.
