Permitless carry aka Constitutional Carry is GOOD

I addressed that example in my post, stating those that I knew that did not have that experience asked me to teach them. So, as you point out, those that want to learn do seek out the knowledge and training. There are likely many that have the “training”, but have not “learned”, just like drivers with driver’s licenses.

I was at an event last week as a rep of a rights group and saw the guy in the next booth handling the revolvers he was showing to attendees putting his finger on the trigger as he was picking them up. He is a a long-time, very experienced firearm owner and Civil War re-enactor, at least as old as I and told me he shoots at least weekly. At one point, he handed a revolver to another attendee and that person, far older than me, and also an experienced firearm owner, handled it the same way. He noticed that I looked over at him when he held the revolver, stating that he was not pointing it at me. I stated, I saw that, I was only looking at your finger on the trigger. He replied that is how he always handles his firearms. Further stating that he CCs a handgun with one in the chamber, too.

So, experience and “training” are not necessarily indicative of knowledge of what we consider safe handling.

Just remember, Constitutional carry is great, but it’s also a way to find yourself in trouble. In my state with a ccw you can go by schools and other sensitive places, just don’t step on the grounds. Without a ccw you must maintain 1,000’ from schools and you cannot go places a ccw can go. As I’ve said before, I cannot leave my neighborhood or go to the range without violating the 1,000’ rule. In addition, your ccw gives you reciprocity, Constitutional carry does not. It’s everyone’s individual choice. I agree with those who think there are too many restrictions and costs already, couldn’t agree more. But I encourage you to see attorney Tom Grieve’s video, the constitutional carry trap. I know what we wish were true, but reality unfortunately rules. The cost of jumping through the ccw hoops in far preferable to the consequences. Just my opinion, everyone decide for themselves.

I moved to Ohio from Philadelphia, PA. had a ccw in PA 30 bucks and they take every second of the 45 days, no training requirement. In Ohio I know I have permitless carry but i still got a license anyway, one for when I go to PA, and I feel better with it. It cost me 78 dollars but I had it in 3 weeks.

Yes

Until all the things get even better again, having Constitutional Carry and also having the option to get a Shall Issue permit on top is having your cake and eating it too.

Yes, your state having Constitutional Carry IS GOOD, but also, having a permit from your state anyway is ALSO good

Add FL and/or UT non-res for good measure

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the PA license to carry is valid until it expires.

Um, it’s been a minute and I have sorta lost track of the flow of this discussion. So, let me take each question as you have asked them. To the first question, my opinion is: I suggest training to anyone that owns a firearm whether they carry it daily, sometime, or never at all. To the second question, my opinion is: I would never advocate state required training on any account, but again, I would strongly suggest that the owner be abreast of the Federal and the Laws of their state. It’s the responsible thing to do. I do not believe that it should be mandated.

But since it’s only my opinion; I will not argue with mandates because I really want to have the implement at my immediate disposal. So, I can take a big gulp and get licensed if that’s what my state requires. I want to keep my eye on the anticipated or end result here. I only want people to be trained so that they don’t hurt themselves of anyone else due to a lack of training. The firearm once fired takes no prisoners, and mistakes with them have a heavy price. Too heavy for me.
