I live in Arkansas and it is a Permit Free to carry conceal. Most people do not understand that it limits you to carry in most places.
We offer Basic and Enhanced CCW permits.
If we are a Permit Free state then there should not be any restrictions unless state or government places to carry.
Basic gives more authority in certain places
Enhanced opens up more places.
I have the Enhanced cause I want more options to go to places and be legal to carry.
Most businesses are just allowing Enhanced CCW into their business.
I am an Ark CHCL Instructor.
Basic license requires a classroom safety and laws class plus un-scored live fire of a pistol, the specifics as determined by the instructor.
Enhanced requires holding a Basic, then an additional classroom instruction on laws and violence avoidance, plus a scored 50 round live fire at three distances with a minimum passing score. Yes, also an added fee.
For folks without a Basic, instructors can teach a combined class leading to the Enhanced.
NOTE: In the upcoming legislative session the Legislature will consider major changes to firearms laws, including merging the two CHCLs into a single CHCL with all carry privileges currently allowed for the Enhanced.
Also, no two state Enhanced licenses are equivalent, so an Enhanced from other states is recognized in Arkansas as if an Arkansas Basic.
Tennessee recognized my Enhance Carry to allow me to carry in their State parks and go into their State building. In Tennessee cause I have an Enhance Endorsement I can choose to open or conceal in their State. USCCA told me as I was going on Vacation in Tennessee. The lady at the call Center told me this.
Using the reciprocity map and looking up other state laws is very useful.
I watched a new show last night and it was about cops of course and they was at this place called “ Lake Arkansas or vise-versa and it’s the first time I’ve ever heard of it, man it was party city!
