My wife used to be a big shooter. Unfortunately, life happens. Alot of back surgeries and her last one put her over the million dollar mark ( thank god for decent insurance)
Anyways she stopped shooting 16 years ago or so. Recoil killed her. We were never big 22lr people.
When my brother died he left me a couple. I like tannerite so this afternoon we combined the 2.
She actually had that spark in her eyes again.
We brought our the walther M4 clone and a win 94/22.
She liked the M4. Unfortunately her days of centerfire are done, but ill get her all the 22’s she wants.
You talked Guns and Gear so this is the perfect place for it. My first rifle was a Ruger 10/22 that I still have 40 years later and I can still pluck a squirrel from the top of a Ponderosa pine with it.
Try a G44 at your local range. It’s a .22, light weight, and a lot of fun. It’s a G19 in .22. Recoil is very light, and if you look around I think it’s Pro Mag that has 18 round mags. Mine had 7k rounds through it and no problems. NOTE: mine does not like any ammo under 38 grains. .38-40 grain rounds in high velocity are, in my gun, flawless. Like I said, try before you buy.
Good for your wife! I’m glad she got that shooting spark back and can do something she enjoyed again.
I love .22LR. It’s cheap, not intimidating for new shooters or people with disabilities, not overly loud, and more effective than people give it credit for.
If she wants to carry, there are some good SD .22LR ammo options out now. Federal Punch is one. It’s a hard cast 40 grain bullet that won’t break apart and goes well past the 13" penetration mark, even from 2" barrels. My wife is recoile sensitive, and has very small hands. She settled on an 8 shot revolver with the Federal Punch as her EDC. Sure, it’s not as effective as one of the larger standard SD calibers, but she’s got a good chance of stopping a bad guy with it, and, as Paul Harrell proved, it’s a lot better than nothing.
Flimsy as the slide to frame seems to not be mated as tight as the normal pistol you would expect.
But, it may be just the one I shot.
If you get a chance to handle one you will know.
