got it… thanks
Agree with everything you said. As a gun owner I am not troubled by any of those restrictions.
How many years has it been around?
Just to clarify your statement. What kind of history is there?
Was there any action on this in 2017 or 2018?
Republicans owned the House, Senate and Presidency.
As a gun owner I am troubled by your lack of concern!

That’s why we are a community. We hopefully can respectfully disagree.
These bills have never passed the senate but have passed the house with republican lead majorities.
2009 111th Congress HR 197
2011 112th Congress HR 822
2013 113th Congress HR 2959
2015 114th Congress HR 986
2017 115th Congress HR 38
2019 116th Congress HR 38
2021 117th Congress HR 38
Thanks for the History. If I’m right Mitch McConnell held up passage for most of these years. 2015-2021 he was Senate Majority Leader. His term ended 1/20/21. Seems like under Trumps first two years with the party controlling both houses and the presidency that something should have happened. 2017-2021 the best years for this bill to pass and nothing!
Maybe staying on topic “conceal carry” and not get on the assault rifle. Because there’s always a partial take “A Well Regulated” can be used.
Still under the First two years of Republican control of both the House and Senate and Trump as President there was no passage. How do explain that as a Democrat issue? This is a political issue. McConnell has held the Bill up since 2015.
I have said many times that most Republicans only pretend to be for the 2A when they think it will get them some votes. It is definitely a political issue with both parties that they do not truly support the right to defend yourself and your family. The only advantage of the Republicans vs Democrats when it comes to the 2A is that the majority of Republicans are not actively proposing blatantly 2A violating laws every chance they get.
McConnell is what every Republican ought to be.
Tim,
Are you sure putting concealed carry laws and regulations into the hands of the federal government is a good idea? It would seem to me that the patchwork of laws and regulations we have now is better than letting the DC politicians eat away at our rights. If the left is smart they’ll quickly enact a national reciprocity law. After that, regulating away our rights to carry will most assuredly be a walk in the park. Now I doubt you’ll ever actually see this email but if you do and you have information that I’m not seeing or am otherwise unaware of, I beg you to share it, so that I myself may be better informed.

Hi Jonald. I’m also a pro-self-defense supporter, and do appreciate competence levels for CCW Permits. As I reside in a cave, did this national CC Reciprocity Bill become a law (an Act)?
And if someone refers to Act at a National level, does that mean all 50 states, or just a good handful. I’ll start to read up on it, but I don’t know how it differs from when we just become a CCW Permit holder from a more widely accepted state and earn our 37 state reciprocity anyways.
Got lot’s of reading to catch up on here, my being late to this game and all.
Scott, you gentleman and scholar. Appreciated your points, but my fave was the “focus on pointing out practical aspects of ‘ownership’ without making it a never ending debate about the Constitution”. As much as I love the 2A, Constitution, and the story of our forefathers; Here, today, it’s the furthest from my mind when I face new Bills locally, state, or Federal. Perhaps we all differ on technique as we advocate, but we are of the same thread. Peace.
Seth,
Thank you. Where have you been? Hope to see you again in this community. Liked all of your points. Well thought out.
I’m convinced how passionate you are about our rights. I too take this seriously. Though I admire the passion of others, I fear some of the techniques others use are taking us down a path where we will lose ground.
I don’t think “we are done yet”, or that we’ll be “done”, although I can see that we are hurting and that we could be in political/legislative danger of suffering more if we do not change course. I liken it to that we are all on a journey together, in a wilderness, facing forks in the road, and depending on which route (method) we take, it will lead us to our fate.
New to this field myself, but I can’t help but wonder how very large the semi auto rifle industry is; So many already owned, and such a large business, I find it hard to see that anti gun lobbyist achieving its demise. I noticed it did become illegal in some counties. Others here might know if any states prohibit them. And the consumer base seems large, they might put up a strong challenge. I’ll stay tuned.
You did make me chuckle when you used the term “grabbers”. Not heard that before, but to your point, if I need to work with and respect them to negotiate (both via art & science), as much as I’d like to, I dare not myself repeat that term.
So, I owe you a laugh, though this is absolutely the truth. In one of my CCW Permit classes, my instructor checked to see if anyone of us believed that Aliens from outer space are visiting our planet; the instructor was subtle, but the instructor scanned all of our expressions with the most focus I’d ever seen. I thought he was looking to weed out a potential high risk individual.
I accept your offer, different times, different measures. One thing I’m amazed by, which I think is a force to be reckoned with, is the mass of technology, video, and flood of immediate information. Some of my old pre-internet teachers’ classes were titled “Mass Media Communications”. How do we compete with that? It’s instant, and peer pressure adds to masses wanting to fit in, to belong. Hence, requiring us to be strategic and better organized.
About a year ago, I noticed a 2-3 day live online video series related to the 2A Foundation. One thing that stirred with me was how there were several small and different firearm freedom organizations. Great, but they were not organized into just one central and national organization; What if though? Imagine what we could accomplish, united.
Humbly speaking to all herein, Seth just invested an effort, and sounded a warning bell – he’s your devotee. I copied all of his outline into my own personal files – to refer to in the future. Please consider doing the same.
Seth, hope I run into you at the Expo 2021. Cheers, and welcome.
Thanks my friend
As much as I love the thought of this. Who are the politicians that think now is a great time to do this, when this should have easily went through the House, Senate and Executive in Trump’s first two years. I will do what i can to help this, but introducing this now is no more than pandering to the gun community. Not quite as bad as Hillary carrying hot sauce but close. The chance of this making through the house, senate and being signed by Biden is a huge zero. No excuse for this not being introduced during Trump. Now lets all send our money to x and y senator to help get it through. Bunch of pandering bull crap. Edit: If McConnell has been holding this up since 2015, that is a serious issue. It would be nice to primary these traitors out.
I am concerned that the national reciprocity bill will be a harbinger to abolish the 2nd amendment in practice. Once everyone with a CCW is gathered under a federal “permit” they can simply yank our permit, which we traded in for a right which they have infringed upon. We don’t have a defense at that point. If we are reduced to a national “permit” to our 2nd amendment, we no longer have the legal foundation of the Bill of Rights. We have only a permit. And it is “we the people” who demanded government for this “permission.” If they give it, they will regulate it and will eventually overwhelm it. They did this with the “marriage protection act” that so many states enacted, thinking they could stop the government from violating marriage with sodomite unions. All it took was one legal decision and it was over.
I am from a state that has constitutional carry. Why not instead work on states to abide by the constitution? Those states that have constitutional carry are the most endangered by the national reciprocity. We have everything to lose and nothing to gain.
Id love to think this might actually happen…but its a pipe dream. The millions given to Republicans, NRA etc…do nothing…you can not fight a few generations of Americans that simply think completely different…they will win by wearing us down by electing people like Biden and Harris
Simply put we have raised a generation or two of anti gun kids and a population that has been taught that guns are the reason so many people die in America.
If you look at what is being taught in most classrooms and universities today, it is not about useful skills…its studies in feelings…ideas. like let’s use a mass amount of fossil fuels to make a wind turbine thst does literally nothing to help the environment…but if you don’t feel that way…you are not a good person…same with gun control…rules by emotions and we are losing the fight in a major way everyday. All the moneybin the world won’t change an indoctrinated child that grows up learning nothing but liberal communist ideals…you and me both lose …
Take NY, California, NJ, etc…full of peole that would literally die if it wasn’t for the middle America farmers they despise, hate, make out to be rednecks, useless in their eyes.
We are pretty much on a path to follow all the super liberal countries out there. Australia, UK, etc…gun rights will.slowly erode until they have laws against even owning one…never mind carrying one concealed…stop kidding yourself. Middle American small town values is exactly what the left and right coast hate…despise and are looking to destroy.
Don’t mean to be so pessimistic, but not a single thing has gotten better in the 20 years I’ve been supporting pro gun groups or electected officials…
