Repeat after me: a restraining order is only a piece of paper.
The victim went to the same high school as my kids, same graduation class as my son.

My sister got a restraining order because of a creep she dated for a little while. I took her to buy a Glock and the trained her to use it because a restraining order is useless…
What we really need are “common sense” restraining orders!
Hoping to get clarification, was that an “assault restraining “
order ( an AR-0 ) pictured below…
Or was that a semiautomatic “restraining” order?
Either way they seem to be deadlier than any AR-15!
It gives those who hold that piece of paper a false sense of security.
I’m glad that my wife and my daughter are on the same page with me in this matter.
The kind that weakens potential victims
Get a restraining order then get a firearm, holster & ammo. Get some practice so you at the very least you know how it works. (Hmm perhaps the the other order)
The problem with a person that has an order against them is that they aren’t a law-abiding citizen in the first place. It’s good to have a backup plan.
To believe otherwise could prove fatal.
Teaching my sister how to enforce a restraining order.
Her first EVER 9mm target with her new Glock 43.
I am sincerely upset by these incidents. Allowing (I mean removing restrictions from purchases of firearms like waiting periods.) weapons, training, and instead of TRO/RO’s consider requesting a Psych Eval. It will not only stop a dangerous person from getting weapons. It may make it easier to get that sick person some help or remove them from society as a risk.
Soon SCOTUS will have the much abused and useless TRO/RO under review. The Psych Eval may be the only way to keep weapons out of their hands.
