Having worked in telling stories from data a lot over the years…the data says what you want it to say. The recipients are generally very open to whatever you tell them it says.

Drug companies do it all the time with absolute vs relative percentages.

If I told you a drug reduced your risk of a heart attack by 33% but came with some side effects like, say, GERD, you might still consider it, even with the side effects.

However, if I told you you have a 1.5% chance of a heart attack without this drug, and a 1% chance on it, you’d be like, no way, not with those side effects.

“Reduced chances of a heart attack by 33%” sounds dammed impressive, though.
