M&P Slide Locks Work as Release?

I hear you brother because both my M&P 9mm 2.0s work the 4" compact and the 3.6" subcompact. My shields are pretty tough.

I pulled the shield 9 out today, and the slide stop does work as a slide release.

I definitely wouldn’t file it on purpose, I’d just use it a bunch and it will get going.

All my M&Ps have functional slide release.

I see no reason it should not operate as all others do. I heard a trainer explain to a new owner that the M&P’s can require around 1000 rounds to fully break that lever in. He suggested working it on the couch while watching TV. Apparently it’s a known issue.

Thumbing the slide release before the mag is fully seated can result in needing to cycle the slide again.
Here is an interesting video about using the slide release. This dude uses his non firing hand to release the lever. John McPhee and Nate Murr demo the Mag Change - YouTube
