Hmmm… is that a legit concern for a legal gun owner in a cop-friendly town?
Is the K-9 trained to not detect the handler’s gun? ![]()
I would imagine not the gun specifically, but GSR, or the smell of powder. Otherwise the k-9 would attack every pop can.
Mine smells like Hoppes, unless that is what set off the dog. ![]()
A dog’s sense of smell is a remarkable biological trait, significantly more powerful than a human’s. Their sense of smell is 100,000 times more powerful than a human’s. They can detect trace amounts of drugs that a person can’t even smell.
The average dog can detect scents from about 40 feet away.
I always keep beef jerky in my pocket.
HHmmm, I bet a jar of peanut butter also. ![]()
I get Colion’s rant about “Gun Free” zones. They, like every other gun law, are only there to restrict the law-abiding citizens.
I cannot say what other cities or states do, but here in my little Texas town, I CANNOT place my foot on any school property while I have my weapon on my person. It can be locked up in my vehicle in a school owned parking lot, but as soon as I put one foot on the ground in that parking lot with my weapon on my person, I commit a crime. I CAN legally walk around the city owned sidewalk adjacent to school property. I can also enter school property with fully loaded magazines and empty holsters.
The supposed “law-abiding” gun owner in the news story did not abide by the law and pressed the “test” button, trying to get into the football game with his weapon. He failed the test.
I don’t agree with the law on this one either, but I do have to abide by it. The only thing we can do LEGALLY is vote against it.
