If the food is really good, I have gone back for “seconds” 2 or 3 times.
A box of Twinkies.
Yup, I do most of the cooking at our house and that is how I gauge how good I did.
Lot of interaction with the staties back in my motorcycling days. Talked my way out of a ticket, 135 on rt 9, 110 on an on ramp on 84, funniest was ripping home on 84, right lane doing about a buck passing a tractor trailer. As I came by the front of the tractor, I notice a black mustang fox body in front of it and I think “statie.” Back off the throttle, bike backfires 3 times,…yup…statue looks over, points to the side of the road, and I got to talk myself out of another ticket…
My other bike…2 tickets in 3 days, they were nice and wrote me up for 78, 'cuz 80 was loss of licence, but dang those tickets were expensive, then my car insurance went through the roof.
Edit…auto spell changing statie to statue…if a.i. is the future, we are doomed.
Cooking and eating just reminded me of what it sounded like eating supper at Grandmas house. 10 to 12 people eating at the same time sounded like a large metal shed being assembled, knifes, forks and, spoons going like hell with a gallon of home made whine on the table.
It was ok for the kids to have a little whine if it had some orange soda in it. ( good memories )
I am the cook in my house, too, but that is not the gauge my wife uses.
Yeah, I got burned in my youth, lost my insurance, and I was not even guilty of the offenses I was charged with. One drunk cop claiming I was DUI, when I was cold sober. I told him bring me in and test me, he chose to write a sheaf of tickets. I was told the best thing to do was plead to one of the tickets. That led to my losing my insurance, and being put in the high risk pool, costing me even more. Thankfully, getting married shortly there after dropped all that and our insurance dropped to about 1/3 of what it was before all the bs. Yeah, cops are great, unless they are not. I had a few friends that were LEOs back then, too.
I ended up being the uninsured motorist on my car insurance, wife was the insured. Company hated how that worked, but it dropped the premium from $3600 ( 1986, Dodge Dakota) to $1100. Turned out I wasn’t even supposed to have my licence. Meanwhile, 2 motorcycles, one 750 cc, one 810 cc race prepped cost me $200+/- a year.
One bad night with a car, 1980 ish…$750 in tickets in my '72 GTO coming home from the bar. Think I got pulled over in 5 towns, timing lights and going straight while in the left turn lane. One cop admired the move
…but since I was going 90…
Sold that car as soon as I sobered up…back on bikes til I bought that Dakota in '86…
Damn Kids!!!
@Todd30 @mattm >>>> 72 GTO HMMMM. I HAD A 66 Grand Prix, 389, 4 Barrel
Carburetor with 3 speed turbo hydro Matic. That big boy would put down rubber in all three gears. I was entranced by hearing that thunder under the hood. That was a big deal for me back then at age 18. I went right into the Marine Corps so there was still a little rubber left on the tires waiting for me to come home to. I was one of the lucky ones to make it back home. There was no yellow ribbon or party for me but,
MY CAR & MY GIRL WERE STILL THERE FOR ME WHEN I GOT HOME.
