@Zee, I’ve just bought LASR license… hmm… that’s a great piece of software.
So easy to setup, and gives such a fun !!! Now I can enjoy shooting multiple targets
Using real pistol with laser cartridge I can feel like John Wick now
I have as many training tools as holsters. I use the standard G-Sight LTP app with a Lasermax Guide Rod Sight inside my Glock. I have many training scenerios in my Range Book (if you don’t journal, it’s time to start) to keep my home well protected. So… I’ll pass on another redundant $100 app. I think I’ll just put the money towards something more reasonable… another gun!
@TexasEskimo, you are right - the best training tool is your gun !
In my case LASR “came” with new EDC
I’ve been looking for a new firearm and once I got it for a better price, I’ve used remaining $$$ for LASR app. So I can say “buy one…get something free” deal
I have the iTarget Pro. This is a great & inexpensive tool ($106). You use your iPhone or iPad (cameras) to keep track of your shoot placement. I bought the app for the Quick Draw and it times you. The BullsEye target is a free app & the Quick Draw is $4.99. I thing I like about this system you put the laser bullet in your own gun, this makes you more accurate with your guns instead of using a laser gun. I have to cock it every time with my Glock because it doesn’t have second strike capability but I thinks it’s better then using a laser gun. I can set my iPhone up on any target I want to and it keeps track and scores my shots. I even can my iTarget with my shotgun with a laser shell (laser bullet goes inside laser shell). Looking at all the other laser products, I think the iTarget Pro is the best for the money, you can’t beat it.
I’ve used SIRT for few days… and returned it. It hasn’t done anything good.
It is probably great tool for teachers ( for handgun or CCL classes), but it’s not a tool to practice. I wouldn’t even compare it to a real pistol with laser cartridge…
I totally agree, using the firearm you will be carrying for any and all trainings makes %100 sense.
Hi, I just got my G-Sight and it’s working great! I knew before I got it that I’d have to rack the slide to reset after each trigger pull but I’m wishing there was a workaround for my XDS… Plus being a new shooter I’m hoping that racking the slide after each shot doesn’t become muscle memory…
on a positive note if you ever encounter a malfunction, ratcheting that slide on muscle memory would definitely come in handy…
What I also like about iTarget, is keeps track of your laser hits on the target on your phone, like shooting at your range. Also it helps your trigger pull, If you see the laser wiggle your moving your gun. You can do all kinds of USCCA drills, like the “Line Drill” from USCCA Tactical Tuesday in your own home safely.
@Destrpc What was it? Rap, Roll, & Rack?
I just got a LaserLyte cartridge for my SigP238 (380). I need to reset the hammer to shoot after the first shot. No biggie. It works in my carry firearm so I don’t have the extra expense of a training gun. This is so I may use a point-shoot method and can see immediately if I am on target, since I’m not using my sights to shoot. I am only training for defensive use, not for competition, and this meets my needs inexpensively.
The muscle memory is a good thing to be aware of, @Kaldwell. Watch yourself at the range when you’re shooting and see if the extra racking starts happening. You can always change up your dry fire training to use some snap caps so that you’re not always racking and building up that muscle memory – especially as someone who is relatively new to shooting.
That’s the reason I’ve bought SA/DA hammered fired pistol.
That gives real feel of the gunfight using laser cartridge and laser targets.
No needs to rack the slide and good way to have precise hit with long heavy DA pull.
I’ve been using the G Sight cartridge for a while in my 1911’s, but I need to recock everytime and that’s the ONLY downside
Yeap, 1911 is SA. Still good to practice precision with laser. No way to practice fast actions, but I love my 1911 with laser for fry firing.
Same here, 1911 is about the ONLY main carry pistol I will use.
I bought CZ P-01 for dry firing with laser. This way I can practice everything without racking the slide. Actually I’ve started to love this gun and will use it as EDC
That’s great, glad you found something you like. I’m more the traditional type. 2 RIA 1911’s, one tactical and the other standard GI.
I love 1911 platform, but I don’t like narrow grip. So my 1911 is RIA TAC Ultra FS HC (double stack). I’m saving $$$ for my favorite - Wilson Combat EDCx9
