Jury duty

I have only been called to jury duty once. Got selected even though my workplace had been defended by the same firm used by the plaintiff. It was a five day fascinating case valuing a piece of real estate taken by the city via imminent domain. The taking was legit. The price they paid for the land was not. We deliberated for less than 20 minutes and found in favor of the plaintiff from whom the land was taken.

The judge was very friendly to the jury speaking to us in the hallway afterwards, etc. One day, the elevator broke down on the way out. I was not in it. Found out the next day that the judge was in it-stick between floors with some of my fellow jurors. He had a good time with it.

So, that was a “yes.”
