Is your life threatened?

Totality my butt, I’m “pre-elderly” half the muscles don’t work, the bones are brittle and the lungs are compromised! So I’ll be bringing my own bear spray so the jury can participate and become informed in real time! Those that remain seated after being sprayed are excused for cause. Those that attempt to tear out my throat…well, I’ll move to dismiss all charges!
If they are uninformed, they are not a jury of my peers!

Furthermore, that attack is ongoing until I can see and breathe again! And my face is not falling off in my hands!

For lack of a better word “retaliation” is good! We are on the verge of an extremely slippery slope!
What if the spray turns out to be acid, anthrax or polonium-210?
Once that crap is in my face, I’m in no shape to discern bear spray from acid or whether it was a so called “joke” ( FYI jokes are not meant to disfigure ) or an intentional assault with ulterior motives!

Pardon my zealousness but it’s not retaliation as I’m swinging my knife in the direction of the attacker. Agreed pulling my firearm and not being able to see what’s behind the target, would be a bad move. If I somehow manage to get the “jokester” in a chokehold, I’M NOT LETTING GO!

We are letting psychos get away with more and more! Tomorrow it will be a razor that just sliced your backside, just a joke, no deadly force there? For lack of another better word, an “attack” is bad!

Call it what you will but a counterattack is not retaliatory! I can’t tell that the attack has stopped while I’m tearing at my eyes and grabbing my throat in an effort to breathe!

Pardon the rhetorical, metaphorical opinion, I don’t do psychos! There are too many running around! Always watch you six, 7, 9, 12, you get the picture!

I do see us heading in a direction where the next tic tok challenge or gang initiation is a face full of bear spray to a random stranger. We’re pretty far off the rails already. If I suddenly got a face full of bear spray out of the blue, I’d assume my life was in danger. Why wouldnt it be, I’d just been blinded and disabled for no reason? Who knows what’s about to happen next?

Too many of them will also be on your jury.

Unfortunately very true…
These are NOT my peers!

Peers
Equals; those who are a man’s equals in rank and station; this being the meaning in the phrase “trial by a jury of his peers.”

Some 19 year old instagramer is not my peer

Have you ever been sprayed with bear spray or pepper spray?

You may be over estimating its effects a tad, based on my experience.

Some training and mindset change in how to react to it might help, it’s not the end of the world and probably won’t shut you down the way you are describing if you react appropriately.

Yes, it does suck quite a bit though

I’ve never had the pleasure of tasting bear spray, but if it’s enough to subdue a grizzly bear, I’ll stick to CS.

Back in the days when I was fearless, the CS gas had a minimal effect on me. At my age and current lung capacity, I’d be lucky if I could toke a cigarette! So if someone took me by complete surprise with bear spray, I’d probably be more pissed and focused on strangling the attacker!

Unfortunately I don’t have the training to overcome bear spray. What I do have is the mindset of don’t lose, maintain focus and proceed accordingly!

Not exactly the words I would use in this case!

As I stated earlier, I came out looking like this guy, 90% of the class was doubled over and losing breakfast and lunch!
The bummer was they wouldn’t let me go again!
Then again that was almost 50 years ago. When you put that in writing, makes me seem old! What ever happened to the time?

If you protect your eyes upon an attack, it will really help you defending yourself. If you wear glasses or cover your eyes with your arms when they go to spray is will not be as debilitating as if you got it sprayed in your eyes.

Can’t find where we’re talking wasps. I went out to let the chickens out this morning. Looked into a nest to get an egg and when I stood up I was attacked by a wasp and got stung on the forehead.

Not sure what I should use; my 9mm EDC, 45 acp, the 12 gauge with 00 buck. I have a roosting bar up for the ladies, noticed they weren’t using the last cpl days. Now I know why. I’ll get the pyrethrum spray out and soak the nest real good that way when others come back they get it too.

I have no experience with any of this. Never been sprayed with OC or bear spray. Per Sabre’s website,

“Our pepper sprays range from 1.0% (Dog Spray) Major Capsaicinoids to 1.33% (Human Spray) while our Bear Sprays measure 2.0% Major Capsaicinoids.”

Makes one think about various safety planning. One thought which comes to mind is, if that ever happened or even by mace or pepper spray, what might the assailant want.

A part of me thinks he/she might not want what’s on me, wallet, purse, because they’d be getting close to the fluid or mist/smoke, so do they want to just assault, from which I can walk away from.

Or are they protected by eyeglasses, mask, gloves and are now coming for my personal on person belongings.

Hence the suggestions from others in this thread or non firearm self defense strategies.

Though would be rarer, one of my fears is acid thrown on my face. Where I reside, it happened to a local.

Interesting topic.

They just want you to elaborate upon your statement. Add how you feel (threatened) and how you feel the results of no action would affect you, (my life is threatened, and I am in fear for my life!) How this situation affects you, (I was unable to retreat.) How you reacted, (I defended my life and stopped the threat.)
