Is my way of thinking out of line? Or is the CCW community just.... uneducated

Someone seeing my concealed weapon in public
is an automatic call to the permit issuing authority.
No call to USCCA though. What for?

In Utah just seeing it is not a violation of the law.

IMO it’s a matter of ensuring I called first, and in the process, protect future righ… er, privilege to be permitted to conceal carry.

Where I live The ’ The Turks @ Albuquerkey-cos (when not working) I open carry
Been doin’ it for Years.
Sometimes it’s too hot for the Hawaiian shirts I love.
Never have a problem
I do love my new Shoulder holster though and the Hawaiian shirts
do a great job @ Concealment but damn it’s 100 degrees daily!
On the hip is better these days
Guns are at the same 3 O’clock as when I wear the battle rattle.
With the (2) Handi-dandy Car lock boxes now they just disappear
when I go to the Forbidden GFZ’s (nasty places) Costco…um that’s about it actually…
Cops (if I see any) are like seeing a rare wilderbeast in the wild these day’s just nod to me.
I guess with my short hair cut, Cargo’s and Bates sneaker boots I look the part
like a gun on me hip is natural!

That’s not my Post. I don’t want to ever use my gun, I’ve never pulled my gun on someone, and I would never unholster it like the disabled guy in the post.

This was my response to his post- to tell him what he should be doing. Yet I get downvoted by everyone on Reddit.

Another reason I do not spend anytime on Reddit, the gene pool needs to be cleaned.

Very interesting topic and scenario.

Not sure if everyone could at first, could see the response in that link, one had to first click on inside of it to see one of the responses, yours, the one from CherryDifferent that you copied.

Speaking of different, and CherryDifferent, this made me think how - to me - despite there being a lot of videos displaying acts of self defense, few of them walk you through whether or not to call police and then call your attorney or USCCA immediately.

I feel more of the discussions in said vids should also address this topic, as it’s also important.

The folks on that above “reddit” chat might not represent the CCW community, but might only be a small segment, IDK.

Still, I’d guess - yes - there are some in the community who differ in opinion or have different, or have less experience than you or others.

In many regions, to own a firearm, no education is required, despite some who strongly recommend it.

It appeared it occurred in a populated urban area, as apposed to rural or out in the country.

In that incident, it was surreal how calm that store clerk was, but she’d be an interesting legal witness, as will the cameras or microphones nearby recording 24/7.

I imagine the story was only the tip of the iceberg, and I was not there. But I wonder if the original poster drew his/her CCW a little too early, IDK. Sometimes even one second can make a big “legal” difference, but other times - life/limb could be on the line.

I could not understand that writer if he/she entered the store with said weapon drawn.

If it were all taped and someone played it in real slow motion, can you imagine what the CCW holder would look like.

I feel for them, the disabled person. I’ve had my bouts with sports related injuries, and once when I was required to use crutches for an extended period of time, as I was crossing the street to get to school, a driver in a car harassed me because of course I was not as fast as someone walking with two good legs.

So … why to carry in the first place?

Second… Discussing firearms at Reddit is like repairing car in Jiffy Lube.
You cannot expect people to respond rationally on portal created for everyone to discuss everything. :zipper_mouth_face:

I never want to have to use my gun against another human being either!

But better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it!

Remember, when seconds count, the police are not legally obliged to protect you anyway!

I’ve had 2 incidents in 7 years, both relatively minor.

  1. 2 people charged me in a parking lot. I reacted and they stopped. So I called 911 reported it and called the USCCA.

  2. Couple of drunk rednecks at a gas station accosted me. Again called 911 and the USCCA. Not because I needed to, but because I wanted to make sure, just in case.

I don’t ever want to be on the wrong side of the law. So I am always going to dot my i’s and cross my t’s

If I need to defend myself I will use it.

I got a Jack and a tire iron just incase my tire blows out on the highway.

I don’t want to be on the side of the road switching to a spare.

But if it happens- at least I can get my butt moving an just not sit there.
Same thing with carrying a gun.

You cannot say: I never want.. that has no sense if you carry, because you are prepared that one day you may have to…

There is nothing worst that mental hesitation when your life is in danger.

There a difference in my mind between “want” to use my gun - vs - “have” to use my gun.

I am mentally prepared to use it if necessary…. But I do not “want” to kill or harm anyone.
