I have 10 mags for each - great at the shooting range spend more time shooting Less time loading - I always have to magazines full at at times
Time for one. ![]()
See, now it doesn’t sound like I’m your firearm ‘dealer’. ![]()
and there ya go… INSIDIOUSLY INSIDIOUS!!!
You better buy more ammo before your next earthquake ![]()
Yeah, it’s odd. Apparently, “local to me” - the state officials put forth a new law a couple years ago, banning purchasing or owning body armor. Go figure. I already had mine armor, I was “bummed”.
Many of those vests also protect from stabbings, criminals who shoot and even friendly fire. Law abiding citizens, wives, children should be able to wear them, IMHO.
Weird thing was I read so deep into it, I felt like I got to the end of the internet or broke it, and found the law allowed some to legally own/use it, if we bought it before the law banned it, and we had to write its description on the state website where we log in to renew our FOID, CCL CCW. I actually found the registration page by mistake.
When I saw it online, I cursed like a drunken sailor. I filled out the form online. I was not happy as the state nor anyone told me. I registered on almost the last day of the deadline. But glad I caught it in time.
Now I gotta work on changing the law.
I’m so tempted, except my state has massive reciprocity which I “dig”, and all my kin folk here.
I have four magazines for my pistols
I have two for each of my pistols. Ten for my AR. Eight in my tactical vest and two strapped B2B in the well.
felt that started out sounding and felling like an explosion then proceeded to shake rattle and roll for about 15 seconds or so…
ugh…
I feel like an outlier.
I need one in the firearm and 2 spares for carry (or stashed for HD use). That’s 3. I like to keep a backup for each, just in case so that’s 6. These are all tested for function but not shot regularly. Then I keep another set of 3 for range use. These are my beaters, I drop them, shoot them all the time. That makes 9. I need a backup for those too so that makes 12. Round down to 10 or up to 15 if you like, per firearm. Obviously if the firearms share mags you don’t need so many per firearm.
If you don’t shoot it very much (or depend on it for carry/HD/SD) then you can probably just have a few mags and call it a day.
Conversely, if you shoot it a lot (training or competition) then get more mags.
Always remember that magazines are consumables… they wear out, springs fade, they break, etc. So you’ll need to occasionally purchase a replacement. If you live in a state that is either blue or even purple realize that eventually you’re going to get a magazine ban and then you may no longer be able to get the mags you need. In which case you may want to purchase enough mags to last you the life of the firearm (unless that gets banned too
)
You can’t have “Too Much Gear”.
Well maybe Too Much…
4 generally.
I always “overpack” for a competition. It came in handy today. For another shooter that is. First a rag to wipe down some excess oil, then he discovered that a screw for his red dot almost came out! Out came my little tool kit. Semper paratus
Before I fled from Commiefornia, I had spacers and springs for my 308’s, 556’s etc.
As soon as I moved to our new house in Utah, I spent evenings in front of the TV removing those Cal required limiters and returned all of my AR15 & AR10 to the way God intended them to be…30 round mags!
I normally carry 30 rounds, 2 mags of .9mm on my body daily. 1 mag on board my G26 or my G19 and 1 mag in my pocket. If I’m going some where for the day or night, I have sling bags with multiple mags for my EDC pistol and my Banshee 9MM that uses Glock mags, both 15 round and 30 rounds.
I always clean my guns and mags after trips to the range.
In my original post I forgot to mention that I also very much enjoyed removing the “bullet buttons” on my AR 15’s and AR 10’s and re installing the original magazine releases! I removed all restrictive mandated items required by California gun laws from every other firearm!
Yes… this was FREEDOM!! ![]()

You got everything but the kitchen sink!!!

Ditto.
Ah, freedom!
i’m curious, if it’s not working right why not just replace the spring?
