So hypothetically you’re having a barbecue, get together or just sitting at home having a few beers. 0.0 alcohol content is mandatory for a self defense scenario. What’s the take on a home defense scenario when an intruder breaks into your home when you may still have alcohol in your system?

It is not illegal to drink in your home but you still have to use common sense and be justified. You also need to articulate your actions. Agree with @Ron43xMOS also.

I had this happen to me 3 Coronas in I shot the guy who kicked in my door and he ran off and died in a stolen car he still had the rifle I told him he pointed at me but initially before they found him I was charged with discharging a firearm in city limits it was dropped it judge said I did them a favor he had just gotten out of prison for home invasion armed robbery rape. But I’m in Georgia fafo I also stay in a high crime area

Home is a different scenario from carrying in public. Most of the time, we have different laws for use of deadly force at home vs in public (e.g. castle doctrine, etc.). Everyone is allowed in public areas. The same cannot be said for my home. So we’ve already got other factors that far outweigh my BAC. For me personally, I don’t see my BAC ever getting high enough that it would play a role in whether I was justified legally or morally. And there’s absolutely no way I’m going to let someone do harm to me or my family just because I’ve imbibed.
I suppose if a missed shot went out a window and caused collateral damage outside my house, it could become a factor of whether or not that would have happened if I was stone sober. But you can’t make any kind of argument about how they wouldn’t have broken into my home if I was sober or that I misinterpreted the severity of the threat, etc. The actions of someone breaking into your home weigh pretty heavily on whether or not you were justified.

I forgot to tell you the guy who kicked in my door was on a lot of drugs he took a Sig hollow home defense round to the head and still ran 2 blocks to his getaway car before succumbing 21 feet hell if he would’ve kept coming in I’m not sure if I could’ve beat hand to hand in his drugged up state .My Glock 21 in 45acp was all i had between my wife and newborn son and a drugged up lowlife. P.s I moved out next day police told me my house before I move there with a major drug house people used to always come to my house all time of day and night looking for some guy named Tony that’s why I got Uscca

I look back after getting about 200 yards from the Entrance gate to see myself the Pied piper of Leo’s and ‘Vet Sec’/ IPS security guard Cop wanna-bee’s who couldn’t make the grade of being a LE in one of the easiest Police Dept’s in the country to get hired on (too harsh?).
You could easily rob a bank in ‘The Q’ during State Fair and Balloon Fiesta events because MOST Law Enforcement are assigned there so the Tourist Body count isn’t too high.
I get severe looks just going to COSTCO Gas filling up my rides when I open carry (as I do 75% of the time). You’d think I was Mike O in a $3000 Pant suit lecturing the sheep about Corporate greed.
The ‘BLUE MEANIES’ (Demoncrats) are thick as thieves here ( again 65% of the populas) they freak out @ a 2A sticker on your car (Not a Joke). Use to be a nice little town.

If you’re on alcohol or some other drug, your firearms should be locked up by you, completely unloaded, ammo and gun separate, until you are completely sober again.
Not before.
If you’re worried about security issues at your get together barbecue outing, they should be taken before the party starts and they should not be your responsibility while the outing is underway and you are drinking with your friends.
But still, if the need arises and you are drinking with your friends, your judgment will be impaired and I wish you all the best.

Am I hearing that a lot of you can’t be trusted after having two or three beers over the course of a evening at a bbq?
Are you guys aren’t telling me you’re only going to defend yourself , friends and your family if you’ haven’t had a beer?
The legalities of the shoot, do not change because of one’s alcohol consumption.
(Remember folks when the crap hits the fan, only a few people have the time to run to their safe space and unlock their weapon and load it and then return.
Your aim could be off, but there isn’t a law about being a bad shot.
( yes, you’re still responsible for where that round ended up) I guess bottom line, if you’re not responsible after having two or three beers maybe you’re not responsible enough when you’re sober
