Friday Fun: Favorite Local Restaurant?

Completely for fun and to keep our spirits lifted (hopefully not expanding our waistlines), let’s talk about food! A lot of our favorite restaurants are offering takeout to help them keep afloat and giving us a chance to take a break from cooking three times a day, seven days a week.

What’s your favorite local restaurant?

Please include City or State so we can all daydream of traveling to try the food as we’re safe at home! And bonus points for pictures of their food. :plate_with_cutlery:

To keep this on topic, can you carry in that restaurant?

Check out your state laws here: uscca.com/laws

Midwood Smokehouse. Charlotte NC. Best bbq I’ve had anywhere. Never noticed a sign on the door.

One of my favorite restaurants is Full Moon Oyster Bar and Seafood Kitchen in Jamestown NC. As far as being able to carry in the restaurant as long as you are not drinking alcohol you are fine as there isn’t any signage saying you cannot.

They have something called the Quarter Moon which is a challenge. If you eat 4 you get one of their white t-shirts, Eat 5 you get one of their color t-shirts. Eat 6 you get their tie dye t-shirts. It’s a raw oyster on a saltine cracker with horseradish, black pepper, ghost pepper hot sauce, and a jalapeno. I happen to have done this twice and ate all 6.

Italian Kitchen in Riverview, FL on US Hwy 301. Excellent Italian-American food that leans toward authenticity. Carry is not prohibited.

At home, Water Street Brewing in Binghamton, NY. They have adjusted hours for the Apocalypse. I have a mug from last year with my name on it because I’m part of the mug club and my mug is also 10 because it was the 10th to sign up. The new mug just says 10.9, a perfect air rifle shot. You can thank my kids for that. For 9 months, I had a Cajun Shrimp Salad on the menu. The previous Chef would just randomly make lunches for me. One of the owners walked in and asked how I got that because it’s “not on the menu”…She ordered one, put it in the menu but unfortunately it wasn’t a big seller so off it came.

If you go to the Outer Banks, Hurricane Moes was incredible, Outer Banks Brewing was a close 2nd. Myrtle Beach, go to Damons. NYC, go to Keens Steak House , they have the largest collection of Scotch I have ever seen. Now, if you LOVE Vodka, there’s the Russian Vodka Room. They infuse their own Vodka and the garlic Vodka is AMAZING. I haven’t had any food there.

Ok @Dawn, I have to break mine into breakfast, lunch, and supper. Also, I consider local within a 20 minute drive, and all locals are in Illinois.
Breakfast-Hands down Dixie Cream Donuts in West Frankfort
Lunch-Full Moon House, Benton
Supper(this ones tough)-Tie between Bondos Pizza in Galatia, and Birdees Lodge in Benton, and Bonnie Cafe, in Bonnie

BJ’s Brewhouse, yes you can carry and they offered carry out before the virus. Good food and don’t charge an arm and a leg. Menu offers wings - bone in and bone out, steak, seafood. I have never had a bad meal.

@Dawn - when you say warmer, what is the temp. and where does it have to go to let you get out to Stolley’s. I should know this - I was born next door in Alpena Mich.

Food is my favorite topic after guns and cars. In VA Beach

Zoe’s: Best American fare on the market bar none, their steaks (any of them) are to die for.
Catch31 at the Oceanfront for fishes with a close second being Hemingway’s.
The Melting Pot: Great place for fondue w/o having to deal with the grease clean up at home.
Kanpai: OUTSTANDING sushi. This Old House is a close second but has less ambiance.

I have a running list and keep trying more.

Cheers,

Craig6
