Maybe I misread that he was a former sheriff’s deputy! So I assume he’s well trained to shoot a firearm.
Well trained to shoot a firearm and well trained, practiced and prepared to respond to an active shooter event in a school full of kids are not the same thing.
We have had and are currently having other discussions on this site about how limited the training can be for many LEOs. Even when it comes to simple firearm handling and basic shooting skills. I suspect even fewer LEOs have serious school based active shooter training.
So the solution was to do nothing?!!! Ok, you’re right. You win! ![]()
Where did I say do nothing?
As I stated above I am for armed staff at schools if done right. I personally believe the best solution is to have armed staff on site whose identity and carry status are unknown to anyone outside of the school administrator and local law enforcement. But only if those staff members have been properly vetted and gone through a solid training program like this:
Trolls, trolls, trolls! You sir, are a troll. People like you sit on sites like this looking to disagree with anyone and everyone you can. Well, I will never make another comment on this site. Go troll somebody else,
Just to let you know if you use sim rounds make sure you have all protective gear on including a cup I have used sim rounds and they hurt, think of a paint ball but only 9 mil propelled by gun powder
I actually had the same thought. Having one or very few people carrying, and the knowledge of who these people are being restricted. I was thinking like how there are air marshals.
That is a very strong opinion for someone who joined 3 hours ago and has spent a whole 10 minutes reading posts on this site according to your profile.
I don’t even see exactly where we are disagreeing? I am for armed staff in schools if they have sufficient training. How is that so different from your opinion?
I don’t always agree with everyone on this site but I can’t think of anyone here that I haven’t agreed with at least some of the time. Some of the people here whose opinions I appreciate and respect the most are the ones I have had some significant disagreements with in the past. If you are looking for a site where everyone will agree with everything you say all the time this is definitely not the place to be. But if you want to discuss self defense topics and learn from other people’s experience and knowledge as well as share your own then this is one of the better places around in my opinion.
You should read his posts, not just here. He is far from a troll. He is well-respected here and provides valuable insight and knowledge. You clearly misunderstand what he is stating.
[edit] @Shamrock, you are correct, many of us have different ideas and experiences and have debated many topics. Those that don’t get personal or take it personal, such as yourself, have made this site better.
The security guard had at the very least the same training as the would be sheriffs office resource officer. Probably more. He saved the day. He saved countless kids and teachers with his legally possessed firearm. He shot no one he shouldn’t have. I question the origin of the bullet that hit the student through a wall. Could have come from a couple sources. That man isn’t a troll but will repeat things over and over even though it’s not really a meaningful factor in the discussion just to help his position. It is frustrating. I think he’s working for the website. Also a couple others. No big deal. The truth is the truth and some people would argue against the truth in the interest of appearing correct. Very silly. It is like you said the fog of war and however long you’ve been a member doesn’t make you more or less intelligent. More or less entitled to say whatever you observe. In fact, to me it seems you’re very sharp and brave enough to say what you see and sharp enough to see through the brainwashing training and heard mentality. Welcome brother! More people like you are needed in places like these.
Here’s another thread where I go into how we should arm teachers but becoming a teacher should involve high level self defense training. I mean seriously, education is a silent weapon and if we are going to trust these people with educating our future, then we best be able to trust them with a firearm. As it stand right now in a broken educational system turned weapon, I wouldn’t trust half of these crazies teaching in our public schools with a firearm. Fundamental changes in the training and hiring of these teachers is necessary. In short, avoid public schooling at all costs. This country was shaped and carried on the backs of homeschooled men.
Few comments. First, tongue in cheek, the press never gets it wrong, is always tells the entire story, and never has an agenda. Second, he/she who fires a weapons is responsible for every round sent down range along with the consequences of being “wrong.” Three, move to Texas which recently passed legislation to require armed personnel in every school K-12.
All well said. If everyone who had a gun in N.M. just moved to Tx. The 2nd amendment might still be “suspended”. Sometimes we need to fight where we are and not run. Otherwise whatever your running from might gain strength and find its way to where you ran.
You would be surprised how much liberals, and I do not mean that in a derogatory connotative way. Are arming up. I am on the subredit 2A liberals and they love guns and are as passionate as much as we are. But to my point, the same local official who does not want you to have a gun, probably have a gun. We cant be a society that is both defund the police or anti 2A.
I’m not sure where any of that came from but liberal, conservative, libertarian, democratic, and republican are all the same to me. This republic was designed not to have any parties at all. The moment parties were created was the beginning of the end.
Yup that’s me a paid shill for the USCCA🤪 Where are all my past due checks @USCCA? Just joking USCCA but if you would like to go on record to say that I am not a plant maybe Eliteless will believe I am not part of the conspiracy?
Why would LEOs lie about the bullet coming from the security guard’s firearm? Given that he was an off duty LEO it seems they would have more incentive to lie and say it wasn’t from his firearm. And what if the off duty officer had succeeded in shooting the other officer and that stopped them from getting the second suspect? The fog of war is a real thing but it doesn’t excuse potentially fatal mistakes.
Yes the security guard likely had similar training to the other responding LEOs. That is my point. I believe more specific training is required to deal with active school shooters and that trained staff that know and care about the students and can quickly identify the friends from foes and can respond immediately are the best protection.
And yes I will respond over and over to the points of other people continually repeating their points when I believe there are important alternatives to consider. My point is not to annoy you or anyone else. It is to make sure that alternative views are not drowned out by other people with equally strong views. I respect your opinion @Elitesless and even agree with much of it. But not all of it.
I was referring to the dude with the revolver as his picture. I respect and understand everyone’s opinions. Almost. I do find myself tolerating a few actual trolls. But a troll do what it do. All good. Ain’t slowing me down.
Quite frankly, in retrospect i do not know what prompted me to say that. I would say when I am on here I tend to get conservative points of view. But when I was on the liberal 2A it was interesting to see how less politcal they were, which i found to be a positive.
troll is too easy a word to label anyone who disagrees with you.
Sorry for the confusion. You said he is not a troll so I thought you were referencing @Greg161 ‘s post calling me a troll.
I have had some long winded disagreements with @Nathan57 in the past but respect his opinions and the thought and effort he puts into them even when we disagree. I’d be surprised if he was getting paid by USCCA but you never can be sure who is who and what is what on the internet. We could all be a bunch of pimple faced kids hanging out in our parents basements pretending to be someone else since we don’t have real jobs or lives;)
