I HAVE AN FN FN-15 SRP G2. BASICALLY THE SAME EXACT WEAPON! I am attaching some specifications and reviews for you; not ‘hearsay’ or rumor-mill ‘budget AR’ stuff. Originally the weapon was only for law enforcement. It comes with no ‘furniture’, not even irons. That kept the pricing down because, as anyone knows, when you’re designing for the government, be it local, state or national, the lowest bidder with the highest quality wins.
I love mine! Of course now it has a red dot, magnifier to 5x, iron sites, light/laser, B. A. D. Lever, Radian Weapons Competition Raptor AR-15 Ambidextrous Charging Handle, Tactical Ambi Sling Cobra, a great case and 11 magazines, so far. (I plan on 10 aluminum mags next loaded with 62 grain green-tip and some 70+ grain (1:7 barrel twist-rate). The latter being said, I see no deterioration of 55 grain trajectories out to 100 yards so you’re fine with 55 grain (less expensive) ammo at the range! This has a great barrel, too: 16" Hammer forged barrel (14.7" Barrel w/ pinned and welded flash suppressor). I am looking to eventually replace the trigger with a lighter-pull; comes with milspec 4.75- 7.75 lb. trigger.
I’m not a weapons expert. I’ve handled and fired weapons since I was 11. My background is volunteer Firefighter - EMS - Rescue, U. S. Naval Aviator / Officer 20 years, USAF Civilian Simulator Instructor Pilot as a retirement job after retiring from American Airlines as a pilot. I instructed for the Navy, the airlines and the USAF. I was also a USAF Aux. Civil Air Patrol Officer, former squadron commander and also Group Commander of ten squadrons. In other words, I got my expert pistol medal in the Navy having been trained by the SEALs since they offered to train us, the pilots who were serving / flying them to/from aircraft carriers and places I cannot either confirm or deny. ![]()
In other words … I would urge you to seek information from people who actually have been around weapons, have experience, and are not themselves self-professed experts spouting what they think is knowledge and fact without verifying any of it. I joined USCCA, also a member of U. S. Law Shield, because I am always searching for more knowledge, tips, and advice from those who are truly weapons experts. USCCA appears to have a plethora of such professionals and training I appreciate! NO, I DO NOT WORK FOR USCCA; I just am glad I found them.
Anyway, the FN weapons are GREAT WEAPONS! So are (in my opinion) Springfield Armory. If you’re not impressed with the FN, which makes MANY military guns by the way, you might like the Springfield Armory The Saint version. I hope this helps.
