Easy answer: COOL HAND LUKE
The Lucky Dogs
Among modern filmmakers and writers, I’m a huge fan of Taylor Sheridan.
Wind River is an instant classic for me with a scene on gun safety, some sniping, and one of the best movie gunfights ever.
COOL HAND LUKE, my favorite classic
Probably not too much of a classic depending upon your age group. But The Quiet Man with John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara is my favorite.
Stay safe out there.
An INSTANT classic
Always been a Clint Eastwood fan, but never watched his really early films. Watched “Fist Full of Dollars” last weekend. Instant Classic for me!
Now watch For a few dollars More, and then The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
Remember also, Lee Van Cleef actually was playing a different character.
Bridge on the river Kwai
the outlaw josey wales
STAGECOACH w/John Wayne
Also, PAINTED DESERT and KEY LARGO, both with Bogart
Also…
“The Americanization of Emily” with James Garner, James Coburn, and Julie Andrews
Robinson Crusoe on Mars along with Forbidden Planet.
Reviving a thread…maybe good movies folks may not know about.
I watched Life Like, which was really terrible, but the story was good. There was one standout actor, Steven Strait. His skills stood out enough that I looked up his other movies and watched the trailers. That let me to watch City Island tonight and it was excellent. Totally delivered the goods. Next up is Here Awhile over the weekend. Both free on Tubi or Roku.
I’m a fan of
- Guy Pearce (Memento, LA confidential)
- Small town films (Simple Plan)
Disturbing The Peace featured GP and it was set in Horse Cave, KY
Low budget, terrible moments like watching a poorly produced 70’s movie. But, it had Guy Pearce and it’s about a small town.
