I love you too @Zee and the discourse that we can all have. Trust me when I say I look at and can see this scenario from multiple points of view. The reality is that his timing was so poor based upon the recent events but the law, statutory and Constitutional, should not be enforced differently because something bad happened somewhere else. If what he did was not criminal two weeks earlier, it should not be criminal today unless the law was changed.
@Randall318 I hope your family is well. It has been a busy few weeks so i have been off and on, but my family and I are well. Be careful with my quotes. Sometimes I fall back into teaching mode with respect to criminal law and criminal procedure which always started with a premise and evolved (or devolved) in to the many what ifs! My poor mother-in-law, God rest her soul, rarely ever survived the encounters that came up in examples or in test questions. But, the fact is that she was the safest woman in the world because if anything ever happened to her, the Commonwealth would have had several hundred students over 10 years with whom I could have been alleged to have solicited, conspired with or was complicit with in her demise. Her death was much less dramatic then anything that was ever discussed in any of my classes … although the cause of death remains unknown :smirk:

@MikeBKY,

I’m so glad everything is well on your end. Sometimes busy can be a great thing!
As my grandmother always said, “Idol mind is the devil’s playground.” – I hope I got that right after all the years she said that.

However, I love it when you go into teaching mode! Keep in mind, you are an example unto me and you have a young probe here that has learned quite a few things from you in the past couple of months. Although, what I get out of your statement is classroom principals or schooling is different from actual law practice and real-world scenarios.(Even if not law in any category) I did need to be reminded that…

Lastly, thank you for asking about the family and it’s highly appreciated. We can use all the prayers we can get and again thanks and thanks to all my “family” here at the USCCA!

So true, back when I was in school, our trucks would be unlocked, nice day windows down. and we have our riffles in the gun rack. Nobody even cared , never thought about shooting up our school or our other students at school. And there was a since of pride. we had respect for teachers as well as others. Not living in a make believe world. Just the was.

I agree with you on this.for the most part people get up tight when they see the A.R. or any riffle in someone’s hand walking the streets. I feel no need to get others in panic mode when it not necessary. And just telling you walk around with A R , and somebody is planning something, you made yourself a walking target I carry for self protection & to protect my family, as well as others if need be. Not to make a big deal or make others up set. You have to understand not all people out there are gun lovers. They hate guns and they will hate you as well if they know your a gun lover.Be smart, don’t bring heat down on yourself when there is no need to do so.

I live in Southern Indiana right next to the Ohio river, my town is ancient most of the homes built in the early 1900s. I hike with full gear except my helmet 10 miles twice weekly. I get passed by cars and lots of motorcycles and usually get thumbs up. All the local people know me as I’ve been doing this for ten years. No one here seems to care. I wouldn’t however try this in Louisville for example as I’m sure the police will at the very least stop and ask what the hell you are up to. I do the hiking to be prepared and will continue since I don’t seem to damage anyone’s sense of security here.
