Okay, it’s not about guns, but it is about custom mods. Stop me if I’ve already told you this story.
My great-great-great-great-great grandfather was given a hatchet by none other than the legendary Daniel Boone, who had used it while exploring the frontier. It’s been handed down, father to son, for more than two hundred years.
Sometime in the early 1800s, the handle broke, and my great-great-great-great grandfather replaced it. Then in 1929 (I remember, because it was the year the Great Depression began), the head split, and my great-grandfather fitted a new one.
Today, I own this magnificent hatchet, and frequently muse on its history, and all it must have seen as Boone carried it on his belt through the Cumberland Gap.
