Not the brightest, I guess they didn’t think about their car recording every shoot…
I have three dash cameras on my vehicle currently (two front, one rear) and one on my wife’s.
Should probably add a couple…
I had to go this route '23/'24 also. Crazy world. We went from not wanting to be recorded everywhere, like the Chinese are, to installing our own…everywhere. Sad.
YEah, but, difference is…at least for the time being and for the tech most dash cams like mine use…it’s only stored physically locally, and only goes back so far. And only records for the most part (nearly entirely, really) public space. And doesn’t have AI tracking and recording our daily routes and habits or taxing us for carbon use or all of the various other shenanigans.
At least…for the ‘dumb’ dash cameras we buy and stick on our windshields.
I wish I had one back about 20 years ago when a cop gave me a ticket claiming I admitted to doing something I absolutely did not do an absolutely did not admit to doing but who is the court coing to believe the cop or the college kid in a Z28
Maybe, maybe, I can afford a Tesla but not interested.
I bought a dash cam from Temu (it’s ok, you may laugh )
I installed it in the morning and figured in an accident six hours later Thankful for the record which proved I wasn’t at fault.
Just like a gun, Tesla’s meant for good but criminals…
I grabbed ones of these, comes with front and back, crystal clear at night.
REDTIGER 4K Dash Cam Front and Rear, Touch Screen 3.18 Inch, Voice Control, 5.8GHz WiFi Car Dash Camera with 64GB Card, GPS, UHD 2160P Night Vision, WDR, Emergency Lock, Parking Monitor (F7N Touch)
I like how this thread morphed! I have (~$160 over the holidays):
Dynamic Communications, for sure.
I’ve been running a dash camera for about 13 years now.
Once, back in 2019, I had a minor accident and the other person’s insurance company accepted fault and paid before they even talked to their driver, and with no police report because I simply reached out and then sent them a video clip from my dash camera.
A Tesla recording anything I’m doing is something I’ll never ever have to worry about
I better not buy a Tesla because I like to drive with no pants on.
I wonder if they record people walking by?
“When a Tesla is parked, it can record video footage of its surroundings using a feature called “Sentry Mode,” which activates the car’s cameras and sensors to monitor for suspicious activity around the vehicle, essentially acting as a security system when the car is locked and unattended; this footage is saved to a USB drive inserted in the car.”
My employer has installed these into all of their commercial vehicles. They have been a great success. Involved in 2 incidents in the last few years and they have proven that I was not at fault both times
#1. Not a criminal.
#2 Won’t drive a toaster.
I worked for a company that put camera in our work trucks that would read the speed limit signs, if you were exceeding the speed limit it would phone home and you’d get a call from the safety manager, real time…
Yeah our cameras do the same thing. Our trucks are also governed at 70 mph Most boss and owner of the company will allow 5mph above the posted speeds limit. Except in school zones or in restricted lanes. But some drivers don’t pay attention to their surroundings. Basically they are there to protect not only the driver but the company also. Oh how the industry has changed in my 45 + years of experience. Thanks for your response
