Glock is slashing its line of models and calibers it offers.
Entire calibers such as .40 S&W, .357 SIG, and .45 GAP are being dropped in nearly all configurations.
Even models with optics readiness (MOS) and California-compliant variants are on the chopping block.
So I assume my EDC 39 45 Gap is soon to be a trotline weight. I have to order ammo online now and soon I won’t be able to find it at all.
Some time ago a very good friend gave it to me and after shooting it, I just started to carry it.
There are a lot of .45 Gap guns out there so you’re not in any danger of ammo production stopping suddenly. BUT, availability and pricing will become an issue that will not get any better.
As a long term solution I’d look for a slide/barrel/mags to convert your frame to shooting 9mm which I’m sure we’re not running out of any time soon.
Out of curiosity, just because I don’t own a Glock, I looked at the list.
Effective and solid firearms, no doubt.
But, kudos to the late Gaston, he made a fortune out of the most generic and bland lineup of products in recent history.
sorry to hear that and see it happen to your model. I know your feelings. I have (kept) a Taurus PT745 that I really like , lightweight, reliable, light felt recoil and accurate at intended close Range. and it carries extremely well & un noticeable along with 2 spare mags in my Kaylee belly band holster I somehow got a timely premonition and ordered 3 spare mags while still there, for it since they are 6 rounders. I prefer to have at least 3 mags for each semi auto. hopefully the gap round stays available & re loading supplies . good luck down the line and keep what you like
It seems strange to axe so many models at one time. Maybe they saw they had so many models which covered the same use and decided to lean the herd, so to speak.
I’m a Beretta fan boy, but I look at their line-up and wonder to myself why there are so many different variations of the 9, 90, 92 and 96 series of pistols. It just doesn’t make sense.
I think this discontinuation wave is due to the ‘glock switch’ legislation recently proposed. CA is racing to ban all Glocks, if you want one and live there, buy while you can. But then there may be new laws written to make ownership completely illegal. So there is that risk too.
Here it is, explained, purporting to be the real reason for the discontinuations: Gen 6 tooling incompatible with Gen 5 models, they are scaling up design to compete in higher price ranges, simplifying their catalog choices. Interesting video.
