I suppose it is regional, but the local Dick’s and Field & Stream stores near me had more ‘hunting’ than tactical type firearms. I also no longer shop there. You are correct that Dick’s is driven by biz decisions rather than any concerns for safety. Dicks bet heavily on Hillary Clinton winning the 2016 election and causing ammo prices to increase. When that didn’t happen and the ammo supply rebounded they left their contractors holding the bag.

The change in Accounting methodology in leases. Was basically this.
If you leased an asset, and received the majority of benefit from that asset. You had to record it as an asset.
Airlines were especially egregious as they leased the majority of their assets (read planes). The practice of not reporting these leases as assets was a vast overstatement of a companies position on a companies balance sheet. Which would invite outside investors to invest in an Enterprise that very possibly was not a “Going Concern”.
This change affected all companies that are under US GAAP. Now companies balance sheets reflect their true positions as it relates to assets, liabilities, and encumbrances.

I guess it’s not Dick’s Spring Goods anymore. It’s just “Dick’s”.
I bet Dick’s is now regretting missing out on all those gun and ammo sales…

@RocketPak they destroyed the inventory (loss one) and now they’ve missed the COVID-19 gun surge (loss two)… that’s a company that’s making fear-based choices, and ultimately that leads to them failing. Weren’t they “Chick’s” or something before they went bankrupt and changed their name to “Dick’s”? That always seemed like a particularly poor choice of name to me. Maybe it’s predictive of who they’re turning out to be.
Given the name, is anyone really shocked? lol
You bet @Sheepdog556 - now we can support local small business get much better service and a better selection and people behind the counter who know what they are talking about. Can it get any better ?
Their firearm’s were to expensive anyway. I quit shopping there, cut up my dick’s card and sent the pieces to dick’s corporate. I will not give them the dignity capitalizing their name. *&%$ them.
Shhhh, don’t tell him…no assault rifles were destroyed.
