From the article:
A country that punishes people for fishing without a license, but not for crossing its borders illegally, is a country governed by idiots.”
It’s all over Europe. Strong conservative voices, especially female, are getting a lot of attention and Nationalism, once a bad word, is gaining traction as it should. The ripple is moving across the world and turning into a tsunami.
What makes me mad isn’t the immigration in itself but the absolute refusal to adopt the nations culture that you move to. We want to make our new home like our old home. Then why the pluck did you move here? As Teddy Roosevelt said: when you come to America you have to become 100% American. We don’t demand that of immigrants anymore when we should.
I just returned from a trip to London followed by a trip to New York, both VERY crowded economically affluent cities. Just walking down the street, I heard dozens of languages, many of whom I could not identify; English seemed in a minority. Ethnic businesses proliferate.
Immigration tracks war and conflict and reflects the reputation a place has for offering the potential for making a living. If you want immigration to stop, then (1) the forever wars and military adventurism that focus on killing non-combatants must first stop and (2) the economy needs to be pushed into the dumpster to make it less attractive than where the migrants are coming from. Wasting/Printing money to spend on walls and barriers doesn’t work as evidenced by the fact that million of people make it to England and America in spite of those countries being surrounded by oceans and deserts.
Should be quote of the year, or years 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024
As a first generation immigrant, I 100% agree
The rise in conservatism in Germany is a result of several factors, similar to the US. Inflation, over the top immigration, and stupid green energy policies.
You forgot racism.
