Clips mags

Do you keep ammo stored in clips and mags for long periods.? Do you rotate ammo ?

I don’t have the experience to offer any data but I rotate ammo every two days through my mags

I keep some in mags. I only rotate ammo that is loaded in the gun, to prevent bullet setback. Springs wear from use, not simply being compressed.

Thx… I’ve heard the same about spring fatigue. Modern spring metal is much more resilient than 30,40 years ago.

I rotate first 3 - 4 rounds (I’ve got 14 rounds magazines). I keep around 10 rounds in mags overnight (lower compression saves the springs). Then I add missing rounds for carry.
When I go to the range I remove self-defense ammo, so everything is rotated anyway.

I keep em loaded…every week, or 2 at the most, i will empty loaded mags and load new mags letting the primary ones un-compress for a week or 2…then repeat.

haven’t had any mag issues with this process.

Ar mags loaded (28r) for years. Firearms loaded with sd ammo always run the top 3 reload with 3 new ones. Run the whole mag oncee a year. Just a guess but most 1911 ( 7 or 8r 45acp) if springs wear it shows up in the last couple rounds, perhaps true of all mags?

I keep a few magazines loaded in my safe 9mm because I use those the most. Some may be loaded there for more than 6 months. They can be there much longer than that and will still be good to go.

My ammo doesn’t last long, it’s used right away.
