Chicago,where you can’t be armed

But then again they do not even vote when they need to or this would not be happening. IMHO

Agree that more people should be voting. But the real issue is all the people voting for politicians who tell them what they want to hear instead of voting for people who are willing and able to make the hard choices needed to actually start solving problems.

Voting is not an issue in Chicago. Everyone votes, dead or alive, early and often.

Stop the sillyness (uninformed) nonsense of saying Chicago has draconian gun control.

Stop the silliness yourself. Chicago has some of the strictest gun control laws, and has a LOT of shootings every year.

Here:

“Illinois differs from other states in that it still gives law enforcement the right to object to a concealed carry license being issued if they think the applicant is a danger to public safety or himself/herself.”

“Open carry of a handgun on your person or in a vehicle is illegal.”

“Illinois law requires residents to have a Firearm Owners Identification Card (FOID) to possess a firearm or ammunition.”

" If a firearm is being sold privately, then by law the seller must verify the purchaser’s FOID card and also keep a record of any sale for a period of 10 years. To verify the purchaser’s FOID card, the seller must contact the state police and receive a transfer approval number by phone call or online. All firearms sellers must abide by statutory waiting periods."

"CHICAGO — Among the opinions and orders issued Monday by the U.S. Supreme Court was a decision not to hear a challenge to the Blair Holt Assault Weapons Ban, Cook County’s 2007 ordinance allowing for steep fines on those who possess certain semiautomatic rifles, pistols and shotguns without authorization.

The ban was upheld in August 2019 by a unanimous three-judge panel of the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. The decision in the case — Wilson v. Cook County, et al. — was appealed with the support of the Second Amendment Foundation and the Illinois State Rifle Association. But the Supreme Court declined to reconsider the decision.

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx said she was proud of the work of her office’s civil division in fending off the challenge over the past 13 years.

“Today’s Supreme Court decision was a huge victory in the battle to keep our communities safe and dangerous weapons off the streets,” Foxx said."

Yeah, Chicago and Illinois are just a bastion of 2A freedom. Silly me.

Let’s see, Louisiana:

Open carry? Yup.

Constitutional carry? Nope.

FOID card? WTF is that?

AR-15, AK-47 legal? Yup, no extra paperwork required.

Legal to carry a loaded gun in your car? Yup.

Uh yeah because that’s what’s doing all the shootings in Cook County.
Simple FACT is, you can legally own and carry a handgun in the city of Chicago.

Simple FACT: You and I have a different definition of freedom.

You wander all over, calling people silly, saying Chicago does not have strict gun control…

Meh.

Excellent summary of the regulatory restrictions. Those traveling or residing in that City or County really ought to take note, to “stay legal”. On a positive note, yes, there is a “legal” way (via the state police authority) to even conceal carry, loaded, even in the car. Live and work elsewhere, hoping to make a dream a reality. Why: For safety, and God forbid, to lower risk of having to explain to a court in that region, why I had to use lethal force, that’s my worst fear. Stay safe brother. Appreciate you.

Illinois has state preemption of firearm laws for “the regulation, licensing, possession, and registration of handguns and ammunition for a handgun, and the transportation of any firearm and ammunition”. There is also state preemption for “the regulation of the possession and ownership of assault weapons”, except for laws passed before July 20, 2013, which are grandfathered in.[16] In other areas of gun law, some local governments have passed ordinances that are more restrictive than those of the state.[69]

Chicago has banned the possession of certain semi-automatic firearms that it defines as assault weapons, as well as laser sights.[70][71] Chicago residents must “immediately” report a firearm that is stolen or lost, and must report the transfer of a firearm within 48 hours of such transfer.[72] In a home where a person younger than 18 is present, all guns must be secured with a trigger lock, or stored in a locked container, or secured to the body of the legal owner.[73]

Chicago formerly prohibited the sale of firearms within city limits, but on January 6, 2014, a federal judge ruled that this was unconstitutional.[74] The judge granted the city’s request for six months to pass new laws regulating gun shops.[75] On June 25, 2014, the city council passed a new law, allowing gun stores but restricting them to certain limited areas of the city, requiring that all gun sales be videotaped, and limiting buyers to one gun per 30-day period. Store owners must make their records available to the police, and employees must be trained to identify possible straw purchasers.[76] With the passage of the gun shop ordinance, Chicago also struck a previous ban on the transfer of ammunition.[77] On January 18, 2017, a federal appeals court ruled that the city’s revised gun shop law was unconstitutional.[78]

Cook County has banned the possession of certain semi-automatic firearms that it has defined as assault weapons.[79][80] Residents must report to the county sheriff within 48 hours any firearms that are stolen, lost, destroyed, or sold or otherwise transferred. The sheriff may share this information with other law enforcement agencies.[81][82] Licensed firearms dealers must provide information to the county regarding purchasers and the guns they purchase, and receive approval before conducting sales.[83] An individual may not purchase more than one firearm in a 30-day period.[84] In a home where a person younger than 21 is present, all guns must be secured with a trigger lock, or stored unloaded in a locked container separate from the ammunition, or secured to the body of the legal owner.[85] In Cook County, local laws, such as those of Chicago, take precedence over county laws that regulate similar matters.[86] Cook County imposes a twenty-five dollar tax on the sale of any firearm by a retail dealer, in addition to the usual county sales tax. The county also has a tax on the sale of ammunition — five cents per round for centerfire ammunition and one cent per round for rimfire ammunition.[87]

The possession of firearms that have been variously defined as assault weapons is also illegal in Lincolnwood, Skokie, Evanston, Highland Park, North Chicago, Melrose Park, Riverdale, Dolton, Hazel Crest, Homewood, and the part of Buffalo Grove that’s in Cook County. The storage or transportation of assault weapons is restricted in Morton Grove, Winnetka, Country Club Hills, and University Park.[88][89][90][91][92][93][94] Sales and transfers of assault weapons are prohibited in Niles.[95][96][97] In December 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear the case of Friedman v. Highland Park , a challenge to that city’s assault weapons ban.[98] Deerfield had passed an ordinance in 2013 that regulated the storage and transportation of assault weapons and high capacity magazines; in April 2018 the ordinance was amended to ban possession.[99][100] On June 12, 2018 the law was blocked from going into effect by a Lake County Circuit Court judge who held that the ordinance violates a state preemption statute.[101][102] On March 22, 2019 the judge ruled that the law was invalid, and permanently barred the village from enforcing it.[103] On June 12, 2019, Deerfield’s appeal was dismissed on procedural grounds.[102]

The East St. Louis Housing Authority’s ban on firearm possession by residents of public housing was struck down by a federal judge on April 11, 2019.[104][105]

Other municipalities have also enacted various firearm restrictions.[106]

Some counties have adopted Second Amendment sanctuary resolutions in opposition to some gun control laws.[107][108][109]

It has nothing to do with your idiotic definition.
The title of the post is “Chicago, where you can’t be armed.”
That is factually incorrect.
But oh yeah, I can’t own a howitzer so that means it’s right.

Lets see:
Insult: Check.
Distract and dodge: Check.

Good job. Alinsky is proud of you. What is next, personal attacks perhaps projection?

Liberal please.

Instead of personal fights, let’s just try to defend Chicago. I know it’s easy to blame the City, especially by people who don’t live here… but let’s look on this maps… Hmm… I see few more “hot” regions…

So, does this map show the flow of ILLEGAL GUNS, or the flow of legal guns which BECOME ILLEGAL when they cross into a particular jurisdiction? Big difference.

Odd, besides Texas, Florida and Georgia, all the guns seem to be going to gun free or restricted gun areas.
