Just FYI I was looking for more details and found this item on USCCA’s Blog previously posted: Maybe it addresses some of your concerns also…
You bring up a great point Sin.
In a HEAVILY POPULATED VENUE (Concert, Amusement Park, um… Theatre etc.)
I JUST WON’T GO. Simple.
Not going to take a chance getting Hassled/Arrested for any of that noise.
I’ve said it earlier here IF I needed to see some folk’s in a Blu-Restricted STATE I’d Carry
Anyplace: MALL’S, .gov run buildings NO GUN. or don’t go.
But I will NOT be without my weapon for EXTENDED TRIPS (as long as I’m driving).
I don’t do airplanes.
Just clarifying
But for some reason, unlike Democrats, Republican LOVE to SCREW each other when it comes to close votes in the House and Senate. There’s always the “I just have to go with my heart…” Republican Senator, read Mitt Ducking Romney, that will vote against it just to get his ugly mug in the news.
What concerns do I have?
Your misgivings about Congressional involvement, or the bill being changed from its original intent, reasons you stated that you have little faith in it and why you don’t support it, etc…
I understand suspicion of federal involvement regarding doing the right thing and being for states rights.
But, it is several blue states that choose to be anti-2A and unconstitutionally restrictive of our 2A rights that need a federal corrective action to override their usurping our rights.
That is why I support this bill in our legislature to correct this infringement on our 2A Constitutional right to carry in each and every state.
If not a prohibited person in any state (like your own state) why be denied your rights by any other state because they choose to be arbitrarily restrictive unconstitutionally of your rights?
This bill if successfully passed would right that wrong.
I think we should optimistic in passing the bill, all these anti-2A states that would never give permits, where forced last year to become Shall Give a CC permit unless you have a criminal record.
Yes, they make our life difficult to obtain one, but it was a move in the right direction.
No article exists that can alleviate my concerns of having congress override state laws regarding the carry of guns, or convince 60 senators to pass the bill in the text given above. Unfortunately.
If we could get something that straightforward passed, that would be enough for me myself and I to get over the congressional involvement.
We just need 60 in the Senate to be willing to do so.
Bingo! That’s what I am talking about!
Yeah. Well it obvious both of us are wishing for different outcomes and stated so, and made arrangements supporting our desires.
I make one more concession; that we agree to disagree, and not change our minds on our stated POVs.
So, let’s sit back like fans of opposing teams and enjoy the game play, and see what happens.
I think you missed a lot of what I posted. I want the same thing, I just know it cannot happen
Pessimism. I’m a lot more optimistic.
I’d love to be but. Where are 60 senate coming from for this?
For me, the issue with national reciprocity is that the states that don’t want their sheeple to carry will add a ton of restrictions on where they can and cannot carry.
Yep. It’s now a lot easier to get my MD non resident permit. But they have piled on the list of places where you’re not allowed to carry.
Sure…it’s being fought in the courts, but still leaves the common carrier in the middle of it all. Am I glad for the MD permit? Yes. But it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.
Oh. And expensive. They just price it out of the market for a lot of folks.
Yeah sometimes the unintended consequences get you. CA is technically shall issue now vs may issue but they are working hard to make the permit as useless as possible while also making it take a very long time to get.
Still, the SCOTUS decisions relevant to that have got to be moving the needle overall in the proper direction it’s just two steps forward one step back, at best, to get there
OK, you made your point, understood, last response on this, that horse is dead, stop abusing it.
How about Chuck Schumer, as lead gun strapped Dem. Sensor from NY who holds a very rare Unrestricted (NYPL) NY Pistol License that mere mortals can’t obtain wants to travel unrestricted like the rest of us 2A gunners gets the rest of his hypothetical cronies (there must be a few more) to jump on our bandwagon.
Maybe Chuck would like to vacation on the beach of one of our several island territories, and would arrange a junket with his cronies to keep him company basking in the sun.
Do you live in a blue state, write your representatives.
I wrote my representatives so that I could count in their plus column on this issue.
Even though I live in a really red state, and I am preaching to the choir here.
BTW: TN is not a problem state in that it recognizes reciprocity from ALL other states, and is also a “Constitutional” Permitless Carry State open, or concealed, (gunners choice, you could alternate that every other day).
Some other states only allow permit concealed carry, and only open for Permitless Carry.
So, many other states have so many more unconstitutional restrictions.
Makes you wonder if you are crossing the international border of a communist country instead of just another U.S. state that should not make any difference.
I’ll bet you he can and does already do that, and if not, has armed security go there with him anyway.
A NY resident with a NY permit who can also easily get a non resident permit from FL and UT and others is going to have good reciprocity already, anyway
@Sinbad how long did it take to get your MD permit? I have been waiting for 5 weeks now.
I don’t remember. I’m into my second renewal. IIRC they say the process takes 90 days. My initial required an interview with MD state police before they went shall issue.
Exactly
!
