Carry in populated areas, specifically concerts

Well, thank for that offer but, buy more ammo with that $100, regardless of outcome.

We have seen a miraculously successful presidential election outcome better than hoped for with sweeping results in our favor.

Maybe, just maybe, 2A can thrive in this new political environment.

I would fell guilty taking your money that easily thinking that this time around it will be our time to shine and enjoy the righting of prior wrongs.

That would be the best Christmas Present of all going forward into 2025.

Do you believe 60 Senators will vote to pass the text of the bill you linked?

Why, so negative and self defeating vs. championing for what should not even be an issue if the Constitution of the United States were obeyed as written?

Several states have Unconstitutionally passed laws that usurp our constitutional rights.

This bill just assets what should be a given.

As a Constitutional Conservative I agree with the late Associate Justice Anton Scalia who famously said that:

The Constitution not a living thing, it is a law.

It says what it says, and it does not say what it does not say.

In other words: Read it literally, not spin it the way you would rewrite it to usurp it.

States have infringed on 2A, putting their anti-2A spin on our Constitution.

I don’t cherry pick any part of the Constitution, I accept it on its whole.

States should do the same, accept the Constitution on its entirety as written, not how they would rewrite it.

I consider it being a realist to recognize the Congress is not going to pass a law that obeys the Second Amendment as written and as understood by us.

I generally don’t want Congress involved with overruling state laws.

If states have unconstitutional laws I believe this is the job of SCOTUS to fix that
I don’t believe Congress is the best source of determining what is and is not constitutional.

I don’t trust Congress to read the 2A and say it says what it says. What % of Congress is from states like NY, CA, MD, HI, IL, NJ, etc
they clearly don’t read the 2A as written and I want the least paths possible for them to control laws in other states.

Yes, states should follow the 2A. But, many don’t
and I don’t want their anti choices to end up being forced on other states’ state laws.

Welcome William1144,
Welcome to the Fold.
Excellent first Topic Bruh.
I (as usual) will come @ that from a different perspective.
Speaking just for myself here MY Situational Awareness forbids me
from attending ‘LARGE CROWD EVENTS’. for now. until the World
settles down I advise myself to limit my entering Arena’s, Malls Except in
places like Christmas Tree ceremonies in ‘Old Town’ Albuquerque, NM
where even the ‘Demmist’ of Demoncrats can’t restrict me from carrying Concealed (yes, I am Permitted/Licensed) to do so. I attended last week, it was JOYUS and I was armed and felt incredibly safe.
I would have a problem if I had a kid and his/her Recital was in a Public School-I simply wouldn’t carry and go because it’s my kid. That’s my job as a Parent. WE Gunner’s as a whole are Law Abiding, honest, rule follower’s. It grates on us that we may have to break an ILLEGAL GUN LAW to stay safe.
To keep OUR people Safe.
Recent events (in NYC) Daniel Penny shows us that we need to have a variety of tools on our toolbelt when operating in this current climate. Martial Arts, OC Spray, Knives, etc help us to be unarmed yet saf(er) when trying to Navigate in this Country today.

It’s all a matter of what is more important SAFETY or Spectacle.

Thank you for your great response! Hopefully these responses helps William1144 that not allowing carrying in Big Events is for the purpose of Public Safety. Further more, whether regardless if one lives in a Constitutional Carry State or any other State that allows carry but with certain restrictions, the laws/rules are the same when attending any type of Big Event. “SAFETY”.

Kind of like Roe v Wade, they thought it was a good thing when they passed it but in the end it was simply bad law.

How long ago was it that shooters in Paris opened up at a concert there. Criminals snuck/had weapons placed there and started shooting people attending. Would having your EDC there really be a difference maker? The crowd panicked knocking you about, off target or down. Would you be I guess call it lucky enough to make your returning fire effective? I get wanting to be in the crowd, enjoying the show and all that entails. Don’t think there is a big chance of it happening here but it has once already. The guy that shot out his hotel window to shoot at people at a street concert.

I don’t enjoy the crowd anymore nor the hassle of parking, high priced food and drinks I would rather sit at home with a six pack watching on TV. Don’t have to fight the crowd to the toilet worried about pissing your pants. Y’all enjoy, I’ll stay at home.

We want the same thing, the states in particular the ones that you listed went against our 2A Rights unconstitutionally.

They are not going to come around willing without a greater authority like the Congress, the Supreme Court, or the President overruling their Blatent defiance of the Constitution.

We The People just being upset to outraged alone is not going to have any effect on these states from California to New York that will just continue to thumb their noses at us.

We need a higher authority than the individual states, like the collective states as represented in Congress might out vote the rogue states that defy the Constitution.

Or, open a class action lawsuit for us in the Supreme Court that can rule these rogue states’ laws unconstitutional and force them to comply.

It’s a tool that we can use to accomplish our goal, or same old same old, lock our guns in our trunks and endure the risks of being disarmed by these unconstitutional states.

I see this NCCR Act bill as an opportunity to correct this wrong.

I for one think that we should support it.

Why stymy a good chance to set this right, and be able to drive across every state line with our firearm in reach, vs. in the trunk?

This bill is specific as written.

Those opposed would just kill it rather than give in to any other version of it.

We will fight for the original language.

That’s not a lot of wiggle room to make it into something that it is not.

It either flys as is, or doesn’t.

Not something else.

Because I don’t want the precedent of congress being able to overrule state laws they don’t agree with

OK, understood but, that’s their job description.

What’s concerning to me would be if a particular party with a majority pushes a anti-We the People agenda like the last four years of spending us into bankruptcy for policies that we don’t agree with like opening our borders to all comers at the taxpayers considerable expense. So, I can see you POV point of view.

I do think that we need to get this bill passed, or find as path to getting the desired outcome through the Supreme Court since it is a constitutional issue.

What method gets that done is not as big a concern for me as restoring our 2A rights is.

I don’t want to resist a chance of getting this accomplished if this has a good chance of doing that.

This is an interesting thought you bring up, suing offending states. Does USCCA have a legal fund to fight for our rights like this?

Even though I’m a Florida resident, New York State law has a direct negative impact on me, and my ability to exercise my constitutional rights.

My elderly parents live in New York. When I drive to see them, I am forced to drive 2400 miles round trip disarmed, through all the other states that have reciprocity with Florida, simply because New York has absolutely no provision whatsoever that would allow me to legally cross from Pennsylvania with a handgun anywhere in my vehicle, in any condition. Unloaded, locked in the trunk, in a lock box is still no good. States have been sued by gun rights groups for less blatant infringement.

Basically, their law is affecting me all the way up the country, and it should be challenged because of its over-broad reach.

I think the language of the NCCR Act bill opens that door.

Welcome William1144. We are glad you found us.

They have the right to stop you because it is their property. The have the right to turn anyone away for any reason they can think of, and we, as patrons of the venue, have to follow their rules or we could just leave and go somewhere else.

True story - not gun related, but pertinent to the subject at hand

Many years ago, My Ex-Wife worked at Target. The company I was working for at the time had reflective orange shirts for us to wear. I go to pick her up for lunch one day and got stopped by the store manager and told I had to leave the store. I was thinking it was because I was not pristinely clean like all the other people in the store, because, you know, I’m a greasy wrench bender.

So I try to explain I am just there to pick her up and I would be leaving very soon. I was still instructed to leave the property. As luck would have it, a local law enforcement officer just happened to be in the store for another matter and I got shuffled into his hands. The store manager told the cop I refused to leave and I was escorted outside.

I told the cop I was there just to pick up my wife for lunch and had just walked into the store a couple minutes before. I asked if there was a specific reason I was being asked to leave. The cop went back inside to talk with the store manager and returned a few minutes later and informed me it was because of the color of my shirt.

We live close to Texas A&M University. Their colors are Maroon and White. University of Texas colors, in Austin, are burnt orange and white. It just so happened that day, a Saturday, was in-town game day between UT and TAMU. They were not letting any orange-colored clothing into the store that day. The cop also informed me I was to be escorted off the property - out of the parking lot - and that I would be arrested if I did not comply. I left. Wife was beyond angry because I didn’t show up for lunch as planned.

Short end of it is if they don’t want you there for any reason, you gotta leave, or get arrested.

Oh
ALSO
PHUK TARGET.

I lost my place having to go, on returning could not find the question: How are we going to overcome eight senators to pass the NCCRA bill National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act bill?

In the Senate we only need a simple majority of the total votes of all 100 Senators, 2 from each state vote,

We need 51 votes against their 49 or better, and we can pass this bill.

If it is a 50::50 tie, the Vice President, JD Vance a Republican will case his tie braking vote if needed.

Since we won seats in the Senate in November 2024, we now have
53 Republicans to 47 Democrats in the Senate.

As long as no RINOs defect to vote with the Democrats, we got this.

I will check on the status of the U.S. Congressional House of Representatives

But, I think that we won enough seats there for similar results on voting for this bill.

Our President-elect has said she will sign it.

So, it’s looking good going forward, it may be close.

The short answer to the balance of power in the U.S. Congressional House of Representatives Is yes we have that also:

As a result of the elections, Republicans won 220 districts, maintaining control of the chamber, while Democrats won 215 districts.

So, if all vote along party lines we got the majority by five votes here also.

These days you essentially need a filibuster proof 60 votes in the Senate to get a bill passed

For something like this, where passage would mean states literally have their laws wiped out by the feds, there is no way NY, CA, NJ, IL, MD, HI, and others, are going to let it pass at a mere 51 votes. Not happening.

I’m coming late to this thread and admittedly haven’t read every word of every comment.

Like the rest of you, I want to carry everywhere I can.

However, for those of us wanting to carry into high population places, have you role played that out in your mind? Are you going to pull out your piece in a crowded venue and be able to safely make the shot without hitting innocent bystanders?

For me, my response to my own question is at least if I have it, I get to make the choice of whether to use it or not. But it still is a nightmare that needs thought through a bit.

As far as carrying into a venue as stated, here’s an interesting article. Note: this man is a cop. So the legal ramifications are different, but interesting nonetheless.

I will also add, my family used to have a membership to a local amusement park. No guns allowed signs have no weight of law in that state. The park has security checkpoints, but no metal detectors. They checked bags. So I always carried a bag. Gun on person. Nothing outside of the rules was placed in the bag. Now they have something to look at-my bag not my waist line.

They did catch me on a pocket knife once but didn’t notice the Glock inside the waistband.

Metal detectors and legal prohibitions are totally different.
