Carry in populated areas, specifically concerts

Why not

I think it depends on the state law. Virginia for example, “No Weapons Allowed” signs have no force of law unless they are posted in areas that are mentioned by the law as being off limits.

I am not encouraging anyone to challenge the private entity, just saying the law states.

I recommend the USCCA Reciprocity app to see all the gun laws in every states.

That’s completely ridiculous and unfair i my opinion to deny someone their child concert base on your work place actions!

The big evens, lots of people, you best know no guns. Permit or not, they don’t care about your permit to carry or your 2 A rights to carry that weapon. Making sure there will not be a nut job that wants to kill a mass of people that is there to enjoy the event. Take your weapon to the event but leave it on the car. And I have a permit to carry but I hate going in places where i can not carry,. So I chose not to go where I cannot protect myself. And just know that a NO GUN SIGN WILL NOT STOP A NUT FROM DOING WANT HE WANTS TO DO. Same with the metal detectors because they will find a tall building and shoot. I don’t care about being a target.

Welcome William1144.

IDK. I wonder if you could ask the legislators who wrote the law could answer why they made up those rules.

Might there be video or written record of their discussions before they voted on it?

I have some concerns of such large venues can pose a risk to become a victim of crime or stand peed, should a mass even occur there.

Does bring up idea, of how do we defend ourselves when not allowed to.

@William1144 Welcome to the community! Weapons are simply not allowed for the safety of the attending crowds, unless you are a hired armed Security/LEO by the venue. In most cases, the events have hired security roaming around within the crowd. And by City ordinance, they have a right to stop you from entering armed into a “GUN FREE ZONE” EVENT. Let’s have a Constitutional Carry State resident in this community and ask if they are allowed to carry their firearms on their person into a Big Sporting Event, Big Famous Music Concert, or some Big Event.

I’m one, I live in Utah. The answer is Nope, can’t do it. It’s not actually “illegal” but they, the venue, can set the rules for entry. Same as other places, they can deny you entry, or, if they catch you with one they can demand you leave, if you don’t it’s trespassing - Oh and the cops will get involved just to complicate stuff

Thanks Mike164! :+1: I think that will answer William1144’s question!

Can you link the entire text of the bill to show that congress is keeping it simple and doing that?

I ask knowing the answer is no.

I promise you there is no chance congress will do what you are asking.

What you want it to do and what the federal legislature would write and pass are not the same thing.

This is not something we can trust to congress, it would make things worse.

Why not what? If you want exact reasons you would have to ask each individual private property owner/manager to see what they specifically give as the reason, and then decide if that was the truth or not.

The bottom line for the private property of others is that they don’t need to give you a reason.

In Florida it’s a state law, illegal to carry at any professional or school athletic event (unless it’s a shooting-related event).

First stab at this got a broad brush overview take of it simply. I will continue to look for more details. This should not be one of those:

“You have to pass the bill to see what’s in it.” per Nancy Pilose type scams.

The detail should be posted for comment to your representatives so, that you know if you actually support it, or not.

It sets forth requirements for the lawful concealed carry across state lines.

The bill preempts most state and local laws related to concealed carry and establishes a private right of action for a person adversely affected by interference with a concealed-carry right established by this bill.

Here is the link to the proposal in Congress:

https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/38

I will open, copy and paste it for all to see.

Remember that we took both houses of Congress as well as the White House on Election Day, November 5, 2024.

This has been around since 2021 but, got stifled, or not enough votes to pass.

This term should be different.

Introduced in House (01/04/2021)

Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act

This bill establishes a federal statutory framework to regulate the carry or possession of concealed firearms across state lines.

Specifically, an individual who is eligible to carry a concealed firearm in one state may carry or possess a concealed handgun (other than a machine gun or destructive device) in another state that allows its residents to carry concealed firearms.

It sets forth requirements for the lawful concealed carry across state lines. The bill preempts most state and local laws related to concealed carry and establishes a private right of action for a person adversely affected by interference with a concealed-carry right established by this bill.

I’m not a lawyer by any means, but, that looks good to me.

So next questions: Why has this never been passed when Republicans had all three spots in the past? Would this require 60 votes in the Senate, which has 52 Republicans? Is this text from 2021 the text that would be voted on next year?

Of course the anti-2A blue states like NY that don’t recognize, or honor any other state won’t want this to pass into law, and resist it claiming states rights.

But, that is them now regardless of this bill, or the Constitution that should preempt them from usurping our Constitutional rights.

If this bill passes you will be able to carry legally across all state lines, and not be denied your right to carry by crossing any state line.

Just as you can drive everywhere in the USA :us:, you will be able to do so with your handgun accessible to you in your vehicle.

And, not have to secure it inaccessible locked in your trunk to legally cross some states lines as it stands now without this bill.

What’s not to support in this bill?

That bill, as written, will never become law.

If it could
it might be good? I still question the precedent of letting Congress dictate states’ concealed carry laws. There are a lot of states for which federal involvement can only make it worse.

I’ll send you $100 if that bill with that language becomes law before 2026. Save this post.

RINOS Republicans in name only, that did not vote for it, stabbed us in the back letting the Democrats vote it down.

Our President Elect might simply override all this process by executive order, and expedite this into law.

Either way the Constitution should be the un-infringed law of the land.

USA :us:, let it be!

Any “gun law” in which 100% of the wording is the removal or preemption of restrictions caused by other laws is good in my book. As long as they keep the wording that way I can’t see downsides. Now, how in the world to get it past eight senators???

The most dangerous precedent of all.

Let’s hope we don’t go even further down the path of POTUS overriding Congress and making laws as an individual.
