Thanks for sharing that story. It has me convinced now, especially when I"m hearing about all the senseless shootings that occur 4 or more times a night every night in the news.
Does the sign in the window of the store carry the weight of law in your state? Otherwise you can ignore it.
My doctor and his wife just took my CCHD course and are signed up for DSF next week. When you go to their office, they have a little table next to the scale where you’re supposed to put your keys, wallet, firearm, and mag while you get weighed. After weighing you get heavy again, all out in the open, in plain site.
We love our doctor.
I do, too, and I don’t know him.
I carry everywhere and when I’m at home relaxing there is either a gun on me or nearby within arms reach (home invasions). All my friends know I carry all the time and that I’m an avid advocate of Concealed Carry. Those that object strongly are welcome to “unfriendly” me or just not invite me into their home. I reserve the right to do the same.
My reasoning is this:
I have a spare tire in my car because I can not guess with ANY degree of accuracy when I’ll get a flat. And while it might never happen there is NO downside to having said spare, only peace of mind.
Np. Even if I had been carrying, my plan wouldn’t have changed. If the right turn lane had been occupied, I would have done a 3 pt turn into the oncoming lane which the crazy angry guy had so conveniently blocked so it was clear of oncoming traffic.
My understanding in Virginia is that in this case, the no guns allowed sign did not have force of law behind it. It wasn’t a school/courthouse/government building… I do live in one of the areas that is not friendly to the 2a which was also a consideration.
Because I sometimes have to go to Maryland or DC, there are times where I don’t carry as I don’t feel comfortable leaving anything in the car, even if it is secured and out of sight.
I like to say, If I have my pants on then I am carrying, the rest of the time it is within arms length
All of the time. 100% of home invasions happen at home. And how often do people get in car accidents when they’re just running to the store or just to their friends house?
I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Could not have said it better myself
Personal preference: All the time. The Bad Guys don’t recognize any boundaries, neither should I.
Yes…ALL the time.
The gunslingers prayer
Lord, make me fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand
faster than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and
those that wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be ‘If I only had my gun’
and Lord if today is truly the day that you call me home,
Let Me Die in a pile of empty brass.
That’s a good one to have on standby
I carry most of the time, except when I go to federal buildings it to detention facilities. And sometimes when I walk the dog.
Carry all the time.
Of course, there are times you may not. I ran to the dump today, without my firearm, but usually, I am armed.
If I go to the store and back I carry
If I go to the dump and back, I usually carry.
If I am around the house, I carry.
The few times I do not, is usually at home, and then it is within easy access (no little children (all grown and gone) so no worries)
Of course, it is always up to you. What you think and feel. If you do not want to carry to your friend’s house, it is your choice.
I carry all the time, everywhere I can. If I am running to the store…carrying. Going over to my friend’s house…carrying. If I going outside to the front of my house to get something out of my car…carrying. I decided that carrying my firearm was just as important as anything else I keep with me…wallet, phone, keys, etc.
I feel I owe it to my family to carry all the time. I would hate to have something happen and I was not prepared.
All of the time for me. Unless in a GFZ that I have to go into. Beyond that, whether I’m running to the store for 1/2 gallon of ice cream, changing oil in my truck, or helping pour concrete, I’m packin.
Guy, this seems like you’re asking something from others that YOU need to answer for yourself. I have no clue where you live, how safe it is, or any number of variables you should really be considering for yourself. If you feel a need to carry all the time, then who are we to question that? You might live in an area where you don’t feel safe without carrying all the time.
Frankly, here’s what I would say…you have to decide for yourself. Consider convenience, safety, and every factor you need to decide for yourself what the answer is to your question and then do it. I did the exact same for myself and I’m comfortable with my decision. Take care.
I agree with Paul1
BTW, did you know that shepherd’s purse, cayenne and yarrow will stop bleeding? Just saying…
