Anyone who interprets the 2nd Amendment as giving the government the ability to regulate guns is ignoring the fact that the entire Bill of Rights is a prohibition against the government violating recognized unalienable rights held by the people.

The Second Amendment, like all the Bill of Rights, is intended as a prohibition against the FEDERAL government from interfering on the bearing of arms. Remember, the States created the Federal Government and each had its own Constitution which protected the right to own arms. The Founders were worried that a tyrannical FFEDERAL government would seek to ban weapons. The States on the other hand are the true protector of our God given right to defend ourselves. We should NEVER allow the Federal government any authority over firearms. Sadly, most people don’t understand how and why the Federal Constitution was written.
