Our definition of shot across the bow could be slightly different.
“ATF should be the name of a chain of convenience stores in Florida!”- Matt Gaetz
Here we are once again. The federales or the state who will rule? Eliminate the ATF and let states govern the 2nd amendment? Goodbye gun rights. Allow the ATF to continue and good-bye gun rights. Sounds like the Civil Wars beginnings all over again.
Now if we can see this situation as it is maybe rights will remain and our freedom and liberties will become stronger.,
I’m taking a class on the U.S. Constitution. And last night we were going over the Bill of Rights. And we did a deep dive into the SECOND AMENDMENT and what it really means when it says “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”. What our Founder’s meant by a WELL REGULATED MILITIA was that in their time it meant that EVERY ABLE BODIED MALE WAS TO BE THE MILITIA. AND THAT WAS BECAUSE THE ALL OWNED FIREARMS. And that the militia also included boys as young as 8 years old. And it also meant that when and if their town, city, or state was attacked or invaded that they would come to defend it. And this is why the Second Amendment also say that “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”. It was because EVERYONE WAS CONSIDERED TO BE IN THE MILITIA THAT LIVED IN THE TOWN, CITY, OR STATE. And this is still what is in force today. But today it now also includes ALL AMERICAN CITIZENS REGUARDLESS OF SEX. And sorry to say that the ANTI-GUN GROUPS/PEOPLE just don’t seem to understand this simple fact even when we are seeing this very same concept going on right in front of their eyes in Ukraine. Citizens have taken up arms to help defend their country form being invaded by Russia.
I’m not sure if this link will work for anyone not a member.
American Requiem. Three-part series. Destruction. Division. Surrender.
It will be interesting to see how this unfolds.
The ATF was created during Prohibition and the government’s then “war on alcohol.” As a result, phone taps and weapons bans of the NFA emerged. Now, the ATF is the arbiter of what firearms are legal and who can/cannot own them.
The “war on drugs” was initiated during the Nixon administration to criminalize marijuana users who were opposed to Nixon’s Vietnam war. The result was a ban on users of marijuana losing gun rights nominally guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment.
Moral: When government declares war on anything, the governed lose rights. Smoke a joint or take marijuana for a medical condition as authorized by your state’s laws and you forfeit your right to keep and bear arms. Perfectly logical to any federal government bureaucrat.
For states like NY, NJ, HI, yes.
For the 25 and growing states that have gone permitless carry as well as some shall issue pretty wide open states beyond those 25…it would only get better
Actually, I take that back.
How could eliminating the ATF possibly be “goodbye to gun rights’”, anywhere?
The ATF doesn’t prevent states from passing more restrictive gun control laws…
