Best way to cut kydex?

I’m considering cutting a current holster to fit a red dot optic. Any specific advice, I’ve seen Dremel, band saw (don’t have one), exacto knife, and metal shears.

Don’t like the idea of modifying it, BUT the modification will be nowhere near the trigger retention area so I’m not too worried. Holster will basically be useless to me once I get the optic on my Glock.

I mark the holster with a sharpie then use a dremel with a sanding wheel.

Cool, so you don’t cut, you just sand it down?

A Dremel will make quick work of it.

+1 on dremel. Safest way without removing too much.

Easy way is to use a heat gun to make kydex flexible, then cut with scissors and then cool it down under cold water.

Then polish the cut with sandpaper.

Maybe use an arch punch and mallet?

I just modified my holster for a red dot…I used shears to do the rough cutting in and a sharp razor to trim and fit for clearance.

Don’t rush and take your time!
