Appreciate your point about the psychological reaction if a bear rushes in, one can easily “freeze up” (even experienced woodmen/hunters), when seconds count, and cost you life or limb.

My theory is that we used to react faster thousands of years ago, but we evolved to be less prepared due to our no longer living in the wild, whereas animals still do.
How does one train for that?
