I didn’t know that this was a thing for regular folks. You can buy one or have yours protected. Nuts.
Oh yes it definitely is.
Just need the monies
I wonder how much the systems weigh and how ti affect the handling of the vehicle. More tire pressure? Sway bars, etc?
That is a very good question to ask those companies. I’d think you’d want a body on frame construction of vehicle for one thing and not a unibody, if I were to guess…so like a Tahoe or Suburban yes but an “SUV” that’s really a Crossover (CUV) like the mid size stuff ehhhh IDK
The additional weight of BMW armor depends on how much of the car is armored and the equipment included. For the VR6 class, the armor weighs around 1,760 pounds1. If you’re curious about other types of armor, polyethylene plates are the lightest, typically weighing between 2 to 4 pounds, while ceramic plates weigh between 5 to 8 pounds, and steel plates are the heaviest, weighing between 6 to 10 pounds2. Keep in mind that these weights can vary based on the level of protection and the specific type of armor installed.
I found this!
Weight is the enemy of speed and agility. My paltry 165 HP would never do it! ![]()

Straight from the factory, this supercharged, 10,000-pound behemoth is like driving two Range Rovers at the same time.

I’m planning for something like this next Summer. Do some secure courier stuff and Uber Black while I try to get it up off the ground.
I have seen these advertised in the past. Claims to still be fairly quick and maneuver reasonably well with its beefed up suspension.
Suspect with all the added weight that the MPG and driving range are noticeably reduced.
Cavilar upholstery for car doors and seats. Expensive but lighter than 2 inch thick steel.
You would definitely need suspension changes, window replacements, possibly drive gear changes. It would be expensive.
