I worked in North Philly for three years as a Marine Recruiter. Nearly every enlistee had no father at home and most didn’t know who daddy was. There’s the problem.

As much as confronting someone over personal property might be tempting, it’s really not something any of us should do. It’s stuff. This guy will likely be wrapped up in the legal system for a long time. Attorneys will likely unpack if the perpetrator pulled a weapon, and then does that introduce a next level situation where the perpetrator is now willing to harm or kill for the car? I am not an attorney. I simply do not know. These are very interesting situations from the standpoint of what to do and not do in any situation. I’m a relatively new CCW holder here in California (and yeah I know crazy California), and I practice my situational awareness almost constantly. I’m a residential real estate agent and my office is my car, basically. I’m in public a ton. One thing I DO NOT do any longer is get gas after dark. I appreciate the content that the USCCA puts out for us. The training videos are great. It teaches us a lot about being aware and being trained. I enjoy being armed and more and more trained and experienced with it regularly.

When I took the required Concealed Carry course here in Utah the instructor made a BIG DEAL out of Exactly that, I remember very clearly “We protect lives, Not Stuff…”

I disagree, I am just fine telling someone they are not going to take my property and if they proceed it will be a bad day for that guy. Letting people take as they please has turned this country into what it is today, a bunch of whiney entitled losers who think they are owed something.

To me, the point is, IF you are willing to confront me, in my face and take my stuff while I’m there or aware, what else are you capable of doing. You are telling me you have limited boundaries in regards to personal space and property. At that point, as was said previous…

It is good that we can have thoughtful discussions about these situations as we learn about them. I carry for my personal safety and that of my wife and daughters. That’s it.

That’s all you need to do, I rarely carry, unless I am in the woods, then I always carry. Mother nature is beautiful but she is also trying to kill you.

Here in California, the sheriff during my interview said, “We are on your side.” AND “you cannot use force to protect your personal belongings.” I’m not going to jail over my car. I’ll probably want a new one anyway. It’s just not going to happen. Forcibly enter my home for stuff and that’s different because my circle is in here sleeping. There is a solid video series on the USCCA site now that covers burglary type situations with a former FBI trainer and another guy. I forget their names. Be well and thanks for the discussion.
