We went for a walk on this block about a half hour before this on happened. There are a lot of “diverse” bars on that block.
Notice how they don’t say it was a gang fight but instead they just sneak in, at the very end of the article
“Salt Lake City Police Department’s Gang Unit will be leading an investigation.”

Perhaps they’re trying to cover up the fact that Salt Lake City is more dangerous than Chicago?

Trying to make sense out of this but I’m a little lazy (it’s Saturday) so went to Wiki which states,
The city’s political demographics are considerably more liberal than the rest of Utah. While Utah as a whole is a strongly conservative and Republican state, Salt Lake City is considered a Democratic bastion. Since 1976, all of the city’s mayors have been Democrats.

It seems if it’s happening that close and that time sensitive, being aware of your surroundings is going to take a lot more vigilance!
None of this stuff is random. This administration pushed the danger into our communities. No matter whether the state or city was red or blue is inconsequential. It’s happening in the reddest of states as well as blue. These are not Americans perpetrating these crimes.
I don’t look at my state as red or blue, I look at it, as if it’s under attack. Our whole country is under attack. From presidential candidates to former United States Representatives like Tulsi Gabbard. As well as average Americans that are deciding, right now, whether to buy gas or food.
On a lighter note, if you’re considering private security for yourself, I wouldn’t recommend the ex, former or would be Secret Service! Just sayin’

Kind of a side note, I’ve posted two articles about shootings and where the person got caught:

The other article I posted occurred here 380 S. 300 West
State Street is actually 100 East, so the first one (300 West) is about 4 blocks due west from the second one (State Street, 100 East). If you draw a line on a map between the two you would come real close to my house.
