A trip to the range offers a reminder why I don't open carry

Indeed. but you are not considering Caracas or Khartoum or Beirut, Karachi, Peshawar, … Kinshasa, … and perhaps … Chicago which seems worse than Capone’s Chicago and is worse than Iraq…

Trigger control… and aim.

You will never hear me object to those two principals.

Similar to a Mustang with blue paint, and plain steel wheels, and a 4 cylinder engine… being declared a hot rod sports car if it has chrome wheels, candy apple red paint with racing stripes and maybe even flames, and a spoiler on the back… but it still has the low horsepower 4 cylinder engine.

Cosmetics and appearances.

Exactly @Kevin29! I have a KelTec sub2000. Under most states definitions, it would be banned, out of the box, as an assault weapon because it has a threaded barrel.

@Dwayne Great minds think alike

What do you think of it? how do you employ it? I have little experience with the brand and while some of their ideas are very interesting, I’m big on reliability. But a good carbine is a wonderful thing at times.

I love it. It is light and folded it fits nicely in a sling pack 16 inches tall. Quieter than a pistol and significantly more accurate. One mod I will be making is adding a rail on the right side to mount a red dot so it does not need to be removed when folded.

It’s a great concept, the carbine I have is full validation of their value. I shied away from AR pistols and folding carbines not because of functionality, but because of optics, the perceptions people would have, to include, I must confess, LEO’s. But the accuracy of a good carbine is a thing to be impressed by, to be sure. You cause me to wonder if perhaps I have rejected something I might wish to reconsider. Can you tell me anything about how the law and LEO’s might react to finding someone had not only a CC on their person, but, a folding carbine in their day pack as back up? I suppose I could ask my sheriff too, he’s a good man we just re-elected, thank God.

I think LEOs reactions will vary based on circumstance. Some will be cool others will look at it as nefarious. But they look at someone walking down the street with an AR slung over their shoulder the same way.

At 67 I am so beyond “gray man”, I have now reached “white man”.

Lol, with MS, at times I feel like the crypt keeper man… in other words a dead guy just TRYING to flop along

Oh man! you present a tough picture there. Imagine life where, just to be a flop is a huge success! But I can identify what that far more than I ever want any of you to know about!
MS can be a tough, tough road, I wish you the best with it each day my friend.

Thank you my friend, I refuse to let it rule my life and hell, there are a lot of “good” days. It makes training interesting to say the least, as I train for any aspect on my range other than a zombie apocalypse or alien invasion. No zombies or aliens want to volunteer for it…:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Well, time to get ready for the protest, my town is holding a peaceful protest against our power hungry POG governor Walz. We will be peaceful and I mean TRULY PEACEFUL, unlike the “peaceful” protests of BLM and ANTIFA. I already have an exit strategy as I know the area. I haven’t recieved any Intel about opposition yet and I pray it will stay peaceful. Wish me luck guys and gals.

I DO wish you luck, and thanks for standing up against it. We have to start doing that, You may not be a soldier in the army, but that’s not the only fight there is for us now. I applaud you.

I think open carry makes the USA look like a third world country. it also shows an insensitivity to your community. After the mass shootings, seeing someone walking around with a gun on their shoulders can be quite daunting.

Interesting story. I don’t open carry because I don’t want to end up with the bad guy taking aim at me… As for the police. They need to stop being paranoid. If open carry is legal, then they have no cause to bother a person. The police have to have reasonable cause (the site won’t let me use the proper word??? suspiion) or probable cause to detain a person. Just the act of carrying a firearm is not sufficient cause to stop or detain a person. The Supreme Court has ruled that the police cannot make a legal activity suspect (the site won’t let me use the proper word ??? suspi*cous) by itself-- there has to be something else with it… like brandishing… Most police are anti-2A and don’t want you carrying and will harass an innocent person.

I discovered that on a previous post I made. It wouldn’t let me post because of a combination of letters in that word. I thought it odd.

Well, that’s what makes this country great, we can disagree on things like this. This has been a major discussion for many years, kinda like arguements about caliber size.

Tho I disagree with you, the riots, looting and arson that has been going on is the factor that has made many cities look like 3rd world countries. If you can suggest a GOOD way to hide a full sized 1911 IWB, I’d be more than willing to look into it.

I’m 5’8" and only 142lbs, concealing much of anything comfortably in the sized pistols I depend on is more often than not impossible. I do carry a SR9 in deep concealment as my 2ndary tho.

You also have to take into consideration my health issues, so open carry during the summer is best. Now, in church my rig is covered by my sports jacket and in colder times it’s covered with a zippered hoodie.

I have run into far more people that appreciate my support of the 2nd Amendment and ask about my firearm choice, than people who are against it.

Again, I appreciate your input on this, but I hope you can also appreciate others who disagree with your opinion.

It all depends on the area my brother, in this area, the police are all for people carrying and don’t harass anyone. That being said, anytime I see a LEO,I will let them know I have a permit and will be more than happy to show them. Show respect, get respect and the police around here are great about it.

All our local police are very 2A friendly. Our local department supported our county’s stand against our gun hating governor. He and his department supported our county in Virginia becoming a 2A Sanctuary, along with almost every other county in the Commonwealth.

@Danny28, we all get it. You dont like cops. I dont think you are being fair at all, but it’s your opinion. Personally, I think we have more than enough cop bashing in our country right now. That is just my opinion too. They are not cowards. They have half of our society against them. You might consider cutting them a little, tiny bit of slack.

God help us if we ever were without them. God help us.
