FNX-45, 15+1

Rock Island TAC Ultra FS HC 45ACP is a close 2nd with 14+1

And Kimber 2K11 coming in with 13+1

I am sure there are more, these are the ones off the top of my head …

Edit:

Sorry, I didn’t realize your question was directed to a specific post. I substituted “can” for “do” in your question.

Edit2: For transparency, I do not personally own a 45. Back when 9mm FMJ could be had for ~12 cents a round I got interested in buying a 1911 in 45ACP. My RO at the time advised me to try a 1911 in 9mm because in his words “I’ve witnessed how many rounds you go thru, the price of 45 is going to bankrupt you!” If I ever run across a 1911 in 45 at the right price, I might buy it.

Peter195’s daily carry is an FNX-45?

Pretty sizeable gun to EDC, but if you can conceal it all day every day, rock on

I’m sorry to tell you but the 45 does not have twice the stopping power of a 9mm they are both about equal, if you want more stopping power you will have to do like I did and go for a 10mm and that has a lot more stopping power than a 9mm or a 45 it’s all about which one you can shoot the best, this is just my opinion as well as ballistics and testing in gel.

I live by the old adage it is better to be missed by a .45 than hit by a .22. :slightly_smiling_face:

So what ever you shoot best and will carry everyday is the proper caliber for you.

I love the 45 and agree that it has more “stopping power” even though that term is out of style now. I have one for fun and range shooting plus some home defense. But I carry 9s because I am quicker with them and more accurate. Plus I find the modern striker fired pistols to be better suited for cc.

My two cents.

Oh an Lucas is the best oil for your car

FNX tactical 45,… 15+1….

Granted not my concealed EDC, but does show the point of 16 rounds of .45!

I will agree. In terms of penetration, the 9mm has caught up with the .45, primarily due to improvements in defensive ammo. With the advent of the 2011 style .45s the “more rounds” arguments has become mostly mute, however.

If the sh!t ever hits the fan, good luck finding .45s scattered around the battlefield. You’ll be able to grab 9s everywhere.

I carry one of 2 Kimber or RIA commander 16 is with a reload if needed. Also yes my purpose is to always get out of the situation as soon as possible. Train hard and long enough you can dump a mag and reload very quickly. All of your point are valid though.

To a certain extent. But I haven’t found a 2011 (or similar capacity .45) that is as comfortable and concealable as my Glock 48 MOS, so I’ll stay with my 16 rounds of 9mm plus an unobtrusive 15 round reload I can carry easily all day under a light t-shirt for the time being until a better mousetrap is invented.

Absolutely. My EDC is a Sig P365X with a 17 round mag + a 15 round reload. I have no desire to even try carrying my 1911. I shot some action pistol a few weeks back using my 1911. Between the 1911 and 2 backup mags I was wishing I had brought the suspenders.

Well, you see where I am now? If I bought a 9mm I will only have 10 rounds so, I carry .45 with 7 + 1 and two back-up mags. Anyways, I like my cannon without wheels! I could always use my 4 gun holster and carry all four 45s and 16 extra mags to go with.  :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :boom: :100: :dart: :boom:

I think it is all personal preference or what your gun likes the best. Good night.

Saw a vid by Mickey Schuch of “Carry Trainer” who shared he also EDC’s Glock 48. Ditto here, but mainly when I’m in cold/winter climates. Always interesting to hear. When I gotta renew my permits, it’s my choice to test with.

Perhaps one of the most contentious arguements in the gun community – .45 vs 9mm. From a handgun caliber standpoint, they are mostly the same – they do close enough damage across a large number of calibers – .45, 9mm, .38 spl, .357, etc… they do about the same amount of damage and the odds of them stopping a fight are almost statistically the same. So… All that said, it is my humble opinion, that having more rounds is beneficial and that is where 9mm has the edge.
