1911 Stovepipe

I have a Springfield Armory Garrison 1911 and have had zero issues with the firearm for 2 years but today at the range I had 2 Stovepipes, same magazine which is making me lean towards that. I clean the firearm after each time at the range, so I don’t think it’s a cleanliness issue. Ammo is the same range ammo I have been using, although I buy it through the range so who knows if they started using trash and re-boxing it which I don’t think is the case. Should I just get rid of the magazine or is there a way to verify that the magazine is the issue?

Have the RO shoot it. I thought I had an issue with one of my handguns many years ago, one I shot regularly. The RO shot it and I figured out it was me. I then had no more issues with it.

It’s hard to say, maybe couple of lemons on the ammo part, maybe you hand got a little loose on grip, get your web of your hand high and tight under the beavertail of your 1911 and tight grip on the gun handle while firing then reposition after a few shots, when loading the magazine give a good tap on the rear back of the loaded magazine to seat the ammo evenly flat towards the back of the magazine before sliding it into the magwell, try these next time you visit the range and see if you experience any similar issues before deciding if the magazine may be starting to weaken.

Stove pipe is 90% user’s error… but I will start diagnostic process with different ammo.
If you still have issues, check magazines’ spring.

My G36 will stovepipe with Winchester white box, but no such issues with SD ammo.

Also no sush issues when the Glock armorer range officer ran it.

So it’s on me,…. Haven’t shot it in a while, I should drag it back out and see if I’ve improved with practice on other guns

old age = limp wrist [amongst other things]

are the rounds from the range reloads?

could have had 2 loads ‘‘under charged’’

my extra lite reloads will work great in my S&W Shield

but wont cycle my Colt 1911 [stove pipe]

I just got a brand new one. I had the same problem but wrote it off to needing more rounds thru it… I have a couple of hundred rounds so far.
