Women Onley shooting events

I am a member of a local gun club in Colorado. Our membership includes a spouse and children under 18. If the spouse attends the one hour orientation training, they can use the range by themselves, and bring guest. That being the case, we have several women that became members only because their husband joined, and while they may own guns, many are not that interested in the shooting sports.
I am a certified pistol instructor and RSO, as well as the father of two daughters, and I believe that women need to be skilled in self defense.
In an effort to try to increase interest, with the help of a lady member and her husband, I started to facilitate a monthly women’s group to get them out for two hours of fun, good practice, maybe a little learning, and top it off with a scenario based challenge. We get a few of the same ladies each month, but I really wish we could generate more interest. Any Ideas?

A help protect your family event. People in this situation would seem to need to be only capable, not proficient. Maybe there’s a “fun” component missing.

Male strippers, teach them the difference between a weapon and a gun… Training is important… It is all about the grip and proper handling…

I’ve done this a few times. Only women can get women to come and play. Not trying to be sexist, just stating a fact.

Have your wife (assumption in my part since you didn’t mention one), daughters and the ladies that come to your event start a recruiting or outreach campaign. Once the word gets around that as an instructor you are “good” with women, which is a WHOLE topic onto its own, you will be flocked. BUT, it is essential that you BECOME “good” with women students. They ARE different.

In my previous training company it got to the point where my private student roster was about 75% women and I did NOT target the demographic in particular. Word just got around.

Those events work better when run by women with female instructors. See if you can find local chapters of Armed Women of America (AWA), Tei Well Armed Woman (TWAW), or A GIrl and a Gun and invite them to organize and run the events. You may even be able ot recruit some of their members to join your range.

I just competed a courser taught by a top female instructor, and 20 of the 26 students were women (two AWA chapters having set iit up). They loved it.

Re title your course…The “Anti-MAGA Shooting Campaign”
Or “Be One with the View” with guest appearances by Whoopi and Joy :joy:

Hey it worked for the Kamala campaign, I don’t think they heard a single note from Beyoncé! Thousands showed up! It’s all in the advertising!

Creat a punch card for each lady. If someone brings a guest (first timer) the host gets a punch in her card. After 5 punches they get a free gun rental + a half price box of ammo. 10 punches gets them a free range day. New ladies also get a punch card of their own with 1 punch in it. Hint: you keep the punch cards. We also provide snacks and libations after all the firearms are put away.
