Why do you carry a revolver every day

Why do you carry a revolver every day? Select all that apply:

A. You enjoy reenacting the Spanish-American War and want to carry the gun that was used in that conflict. 1811 moar better than 1911!

B. You don’t want to have to think about dealing with more than one attacker, so you figure why carry more ammo than one attacker needs?

C. You watched the FBI Miami shootout reenactment and thought that the agents looked so cool reloading their guns in that fight!

D. You enjoy carrying more than one gun for the real possibility that your first one breaks.

E. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as that long, 12-pound double action trigger pull to see how difficult it is to put shots on target!

F. Two words: Harry Callahan. Do you feel lucky, punk?

G. You think Hugo Borchardt is a liar and a cheat and won’t go near anything based on his work. (go ahead, Google him…)

H. You’re not afraid to admit that you have a man crush on Roger Murtaugh.

I. You live by the “six for sure!!!” Motto, which is fairly true as long as you don’t train or practice with your revolver much.

J. Because Rick Grimes taught me that it’s good for killin’ zombies.

K. Because the basic design was finalized in the 1860s, which is the peak of understanding human performance and ergonomics.

L. Because revolvers tolerate neglect better than semi-autos and you know you neglect your firearm and deep down hope it’ll still function when you need it. (It likely will)

M. Because you became a training junkie in the firearm space and got bored shooting at 25y B8s and figured if you could learn a much harder gun to shoot well it would make you a better shooter.

N. Because you’re a woman and the salesman at the gun counter convinced you that you didn’t have the mental fortitude to learn how to operate a complex, modern semiautomatic handgun.

O. TACKLEBERRY. Full stop.

O would be my best answer,….

However, my ONLY wheel gun was a Ruger Single Six, and it’s is rusting away at the bottom of the lake somewhere near what’s left of my boat!

So my honest answer is I don’t get to carry a revolver every day :pleading_face::sob:

OK, I occasionally carry a revolver, but only to give Kimberly a break. I mean she’s with me everyday and once in a while she just needs to stay home and watch TV…

Good question !

For me, it’s because I can shoot my Centennial straight from my pocket with no hammer or slide to foul on the pocket lining.

My choices were inspired by an actual double homicide witnessed at a shopping mall in Fresno, CA on Christmas eve several years ago, as well as an old lawman’s admonition you’ll likely run out of time before you’ll run out of ammo.

Sometimes you absolutely positively have to be first, even if the odds seem against it.

Serious answer, I carry a revolver every day because I can.

I go to a lot of places where guns are legally allowed, but the property owner may have a no guns policy, and business clothes make concealing a handgun difficult. There are some really good .38 special +P rounds available that will be much more effective than a .380 out of a short barrel. I can have my little Centennial in my pocket and no one knows I’m armed. I know that, God forbid, should I need it, it will do its job. Every time. Practice makes the DA trigger a total non issue. Practice also makes the little sights a non issue. It’s a point and shoot gun. @John292 has it right. I’ve not found a gun or carry method that allows me to go from looking casual and unarmed to accurate shots on target faster than pocket carrying a small revolver. It works for me.

That’s not to day I don’t carry a semi auto when the circumstances allow, but the “obsolete” little revolver is always there and ready.

In fairness, I’ve only ever shot two. One was old and finicky. The other is ridiculous, the Colt Magnum King Cobra that my dad gave me. What a really stupid firearm…

If proper maintenance is applied it will work every time and has less points of failure. I love my revolvers and carry them all the time.

If I took a look of why I like my revolver so much, it is because I am fast and accurate with it. Might I say that I am scary accurate. It is the first gun I learned to use. The .357 Magnum Smith & Wesson. I pop beer bottles at 25 yards away.

Because you are going fishing and will need a Boat Anchor.

Because if the 1st 5-6 shots don’t work you can reload it in say 2-3 minutes.

Also it makes a better Heavy Club (Which you may need) than a Semi-Auto.

So you can test the theory “You can’t miss fast enough to win”.

Upside -

1 - Highly Reliable. And makes for a better Club than Semi-auto.

2 - Don’t have to practice Malfunction-Clearing.

Or learn the different types and methods.

3 - Drop resistant - Miss Fires.

4 - You are training your Trigger Finger to lift say 50lbs.

5 - You can “Feel” “Bad Ass”.

Just don’t miss so you have to Reload.

How many re-loaders do you carry ?

QR or Stripper Clips ?

I actually do agree with using one as a “Back-Up” - Maybe in ankle holster.

I carried a M-36 for many years in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts with their may-issue-at-the-whim-of -the-CLEO before I escaped.

Current circumstances are such, along with living in a Free State, have shifted me to a semi-auto.

As far as your choices, F. I had to settle for a M-57 as M-29s were scarce after Dirty Harry came out.
