Which Pepper Spray do you prefer?

This cop found an actual “OC weapon instructor” (oleoresin capsicum) to test it (Kimber pepper blaster II) on.

The Kimber uses a gel, and a high pressure charge to propel the juice.

Then there’s this. I’d buy whatever she was selling!

@Tim.D_USCCA I’ve done a CS chamber more than a few times and recognize the reaction you’re having. Thanks for taking one for the team! :joy:

I’ve got a cop friend who said in cop academy they all had to experience being tased and pepper sprayed to know what it does.

He said given a choice between the two he’d rather be tased. He also said some people (and dogs) are more sensitive to capsicum than others but tasers are equal-opportunity neutralizers.

I carry Sabre Gel. Not as an option, but “in addition to.” The spray may not completely neutralize a situation, but it should buy you some time (to run like hell, draw, or whatever).

This is a common sentiment, with duration difference being the main reason given. It is common for LE to get sprayed/take the ride in order to be certified for duty use of these tools.

I was sprayed in a similar situation with a Sabre product, eyes wide open stare it down, then run a course with a little DT and draw the blue gun after identifying (gotta, you know, open your eyes and see) which target had the gun at the end…it’s a pretty terrible experience, I gotta say. And it gets worse before it gets better, with better enough to count taking awhile. Using the hose after felt like how I imagine drowning feels, trying to breathe in but your body stops and won’t let you breathe in because it burns so much… of course you can breathe, well enough, but, it doesn’t feel like it!

But on the plus side, you can always and forever after watch videos of people getting sprayed and laugh your ass off guilt free.

It is that time again to replace the batch. Is there anything new to add? Avoiding gel after reading a lot about them. Good and bad about my likely choices of Fox, Sabre, and POM.

Yeap. Time to replace the “ammo” in the can. :slightly_smiling_face:
I still do gel… but only because the biggest chance I’m gonna use it are the premises of Windy City…

Okay, I know you wouldnt get a chance to do it, but test it on Biden!!!

Not too tiny, not so bulky, but with a light on, with the easy thumb slip up cap/trigger button. Which shoots a straight line, not a spray per se. Amazingly bright light:

Mace Brand Pepper Gel, Magnum 3, Magnum 4, Magnum 9, or Night Defender with LED Light, Black

I ended up with POM MK-3 for around the house and in the cars where size/weight doesn’t matter.

I think I’ll check that one out. Thx
